Excellent hotel, I highly recommend it

Pros: Everything about it was wonderful. It was the highly trained and intelligent staff throughout the hotel that made it such a good experience.
Cons: The breakfast menu should include alternatives to pork sausage and bacon (turkey products) although there were smoked fish as an alternative.
Location: For a 10 to 15 Euro Cab fare you can get to just about anything worth doing in Amsterdam. The cab drivers are friendly and honest.
This was a wonderful hotel in Amsterdam. The interiors of the hotel are beautiful and tastefully designed. The staff is truly excellent. The concierges were the best I have ever encountered. They were excellent on getting tickets for everything we wanted to do in Amsterdam and in obtaining transportation for us. The restaurant and food service in the hotel was world class. Salmon and caviar dishes, seared fresh tuna all of these things were the best even to the side dishes prepared with skill and presented and served with true class. My wife is a trained and excellent amateur chief and even she who eats only a few bites of food at most restaurants before pushing her plate away, was discretely spearing food from my plate (I let her, she's underweight, I'm the opposite). Sitting on the hotel's terrace overlooking a peaceful canal with beautiful watercraft on it sipping a perfectly made beverage and was truly pleasant.

Fabulous Hotel in a Superb Location

Pros: Location, size of rooms, comfort, all really 1st rate.
Cons: Only gripe was the queue at concierge (took about 10 mins with 2 people in front of us, and a phone call that had to be answered before we were served
Location: Location was great with quick and easy links into the city centre. Not many restaurants or bars near by that I could see but not a problem.
Difficult to find anything to fault with this hotel. The rooms are big and bright (huge windows) well maintained, good facilities, cleaned exceptionally well and really, really comfortable. The reception is bright and welcoming, the staff are helpful and wait times weren't too bad (although had to queue for the concierge to buy public transport tickets and was not told that the tickets were not accepted on all buses which proved to be a real pain and added cost). The location is in a really lovely part of town and tram/bus links into the centre are easy and relatively cheap. Vondelpark is only about 10-15 mins from the hotel and well worth a visit, especially if the weather is good. You're in the city but not in the heart of the noise and bustle so it was perfect for what we needed. Didn't eat at the hotel as there were too many places across the city we wanted to visit. Overall, really top class destination with little to detract from other than the rather long delay at concierge and the lack of clarity when buying the day travel tickets for public transport (ended up sticking to the trams which all accepted the tickets we found out).

Sehr gutes Hotel, am Stadtrand

-Hotel & Möbel schon etwas älter, aber das stört nicht, alles sehr schön -Ruhig gelegen, direkt an einem Kanal -leider waren wir nur im 1. Stock, weiter oben ist die Aussicht sicher besser, aber tolles Zimmer -Duschvorhang ist nicht so unser Ding... -Personal & Service kaum zu topen -Parkplatz 35€/Tag wussten wir, fanden wir trotzdem zu teuer -haben Fahrräder ausgeliehen, können wir nur empfehlen, aber mussten 3 volle Tage bezahlen (15€/Tag), obwohl wir sie am 1. Tag erst ab 14Uhr hatten (hätten wir vor Ort ansprechen sollen) -Hotel für Fußmarsch zu weit vom Zentrum, aber für Fahrräder ideal! Unserer Meinung nach, gibt es in Amsterdam keine bessere, entspanntere & lustigere Variante! -Getränke & Minibar im Hotel sehr teuer, gegessen haben wir nicht -Frühstücksbuffet super, allerdings wenig Käseauswahl für 5 Sterne & gerade in Holland (hat uns nicht gestört, da wir wenig Käse essen) -Alles in allem ein tolles Hotel zum weiter empfehlen! Ist zwar nicht günstig, aber man merkt auch, dass man in einem gehobeneren Haus ist.

As you already mentioned, we are indeed located just outside the hustle and bustle of the busy city center in a nice and quiet residential area with beautiful canal views. Did you know that the ambiance of our hotel originates from ‘’Plan-Zuid’’ by architect Hendrik Petrus Berlage? The district ‘’New South’’ was built between 1917 and 1925 in the style of the Amsterdam School. We are sorry to read that not all our services and facilities met with your approval. Since most of our guests arrive by plane, we decided not to include the parking in our rates, as this would not be fair to guests not using this facility. The same rules apply for visitors as for our local guests. There are two tram stops near the Hilton, so it is also possible to take the tram to the center. Your feedback is shared within the team and used to review our hospitality. We are looking forward to welcoming you back at Hilton Amsterdam in the near future. Albergo perfetto curato in ogni dettaglio....la colazione spettacolare....gentilissimi...e premurosi......la camera enorme....pulita...passavano 3.4 volte al giorno.....a rifarla.....si vede che è HILTON 5 stelle e le merita tutte. ...io vivo...per lavoto in hotel...ed è veramente perfetto.....complimenti ve lo consiglio

Pros: The friendly and helpful staff. The Half Moon lounge. Great breakfast food and service. Nice room and bathroom. View from room over canal. Gift shop
Cons: Could not fault anything really. We just really enjoyed our stay.
Location: Great quiet location, right on a canal. There are shops and bars and restaurants in Beethoven Straat, that is walkable.
Very good hotel, with great, friendly and helpful staff. Excellent breakfast buffet, with wide choice, high quality and very good, friendly service. The room was very clean and up to date. The beds comfortable with a pillow menu. TV a good size. Great canal view. We found that the best tram route to use, to get into central Amsterdam, is the number 16 at Emma Straat stop. This is a very short walk across the bridge from the hotel and is less busy (so more chance of a seat) than the number 5 route which is a longer walk located on Beethoven Straat. The gift shop lady, is very friendly and helpful. Her shop sells many nice gifts and useful items, such as travel passes. Although there were Restaurants nearby in Beethoven Straat, it is a bit of a walk and we liked the hotel's own Half Moon Lounge so much, with it's very friendly, chatty staff (Costas, Marcin, Kelsey, Moniker, Wendy and Nicolette) for whom nothing was too much trouble. We ate and drank there every night. English newspapers can be purchased at AKO, in Beethoven Straat next to the number 5 tram stop.

Disappointing

Pros: The view of the City was very nice and the executive lounge was nice for the patrons staying in suites. The concierge and door men were very pleasant
Cons: The rooms are old and need updating. The staff while pleasant just politely would say they could not do anything -
Location: We were in the heart of Amsterdam - we visited the Van Gogh museum and took a boat tour via the canals. There is a lot of shopping available
We requested a room near the elevator and alerted them that my mother was using a walker. They put us at the end of the hall furthest away from elevator. When requesting another room they did not have one available to next day - would not upgrade to accommodate. My mother could not get in the shower due to just a tub - requested a stool to help her up and told they would have it delivered - it never arrived. We paid an additional 800 for a room upgrade before arrival and did not feel that we got this. The pictures we were shown of the suite room and what we were given were totally different. I would not have paid an extra 400 per night for this room - it was not worth that money let alone extra on top of a normal room. While the staff were pleasant they were not willing to make sure any requests were met sufficiently. Will never stay at this hotel again. Our transfers were not honored and had to pay an extra 50.00 for a cab to the airport saying that they could not get us scheduled in time and it was our responsibility to get a refund from Expedia
