We had an amazing stay at the Griya Villa and Spa. The pictures displayed on expedia do not do the resort any justice it's even more beautiful in person. We stayed in Villa 3 and had an gorgeous view. The staff were extremely friendly and really nice. They were very pleasant and always welcoming. They were some of the nicest people I've met. The hotel has everything you need if you are looking for a relaxing time. They also have books, magazines and movies available for you to use. We absolutely loved it. My only recommendation is a bit of improvement with the Restaurant menu. Maybe they can have two different themes throughout the week so that there are more options available. The food was just okay compared the food offered in the vicinity by other restaurants.
The resort is 43 kilometres from the airport which in Bali driving is three hours away. It's a bit far but it all depends what you're looking for. We went for our honeymoon and wanted to stay in a remote location. Overall is a great spot!
The ocean view bungalows built of trDitional materials have a verandah from which you can watch the sunrise, see the local fishermen coming and going and experience the sea breezes. This hotel is set in lovely gardens with a great pool and an open air restaurant which offers decent food. The staff go out of their way to help.
"Good hotel with great service Close to Lipah beach"
We initially planned on staying two nights, ended up staying ten.
We enjoyed our stay very much. The hotel's service was helpful and considerate on more than one occasion.
First two nights stayed in villa #1 it was close to road and pool, which made it difficult if a light sleeper. Pool was very clean. We moved to a farther villa and noise was no issue. Room was clean, new and everything worked.
The air conditioner functioned very well and for the first time in our trip we had hot water that kept is temperature. Fridge and kitchen were clean. Be careful of food in room. We left out fruit and ants soon found it. The ladies at desk came to rescue. Once we kept food in fridge ants were no longer issue.
Very close to Lipah beach, under one minute walk. The beach was very well priced and had great snorkeling and relaxing.
We also enjoyed a traditional barbecue of satays at a workers home. It was awesome to have a traditional experience like that.
Was a great stay for a good price an would recommend to travelers.
On first impression I was not overly impressed in that our room had not had A/C turned on prior to our arrival - so was hot and stuffy. The hotel itself was very nice, peaceful and well laid out and the staff were very friendly and helpful. On the down side though the chairs in the restaurant were not overly comfortable to sit at for any period of time and for my wife and I, we would have liked a bit of background/ambience music (Balinese) in the restaurant area. The food was very nice for main meals, but the breakfast was quite limited and every day I had to ask for the rice or noodle dishes to be warmed up as they were cold. The Coffee jug was left to run out before it was refilled so got very 'bitty' towards the end.
If you want transfer from airport - ask around first as we paid double of what we paid on the return trip.
The main attractions is off course diving - for us we went snorkelling but was very disappointed to see other tourists standing on the coral, there is a small notice in the information book about protecting the coral, but I think the hire shop could try to let people know how fragile the coral is as it won't be there for long if it is not looked after - and then the area will suffer as there wont be a major attraction.
Had a bit of a hesitation pulling up to the hotel given the construction and parking lot right next to it. When walking on the beach to the reception area I was pleasently surprised at the hotel. It was beautifuly landscaped, with a gorgeous view of the ocean. The staff were freindly and wonderful. We had a massage on the pool deck overlooking the ocean every day. Staff brought in a perrson for us. The breakfast was good. The room was a good size. There were three of us so an extra bed was brought in but there was still plenty of room. No hot water for the shower though.
This exquisite little villa is tucked away in Bunutan. I must not have paid close attention to the address, because once the taxi driver passed the main town of Amed we kept going up the hill another 20 minutes. There is a huge open area to greet guests, a swimming pool, and a lovely spacious room with the basics- bed, dresser, air conditioner, bathroom with essential ammenities. With that said, there isn't much to do in Bunutan...you can walk 10 minutes in either direction of the hotel and find a few spas, restaurants, and convenience stores selling drinks, sunblock, and snacks at ridiculous prices. I ended up hiring my front desk receptionist to take me into town. Keep in mind that motorbike drivers will also charge a lot more than other parts of Bali because they can get away with it (ex: I paid 50,000 Rupiah for someone to take me to and from Amed) or you can rent your own motorbike for cheaper. Because Bunutan is also such a small town with nothing to do, employees can come off as a bit lazy. When you come to the front desk, they were always laying down on the couch on their phones or sitting around not doing much of anything...but again, that is the lifestyle of this place and there's nothing to do. Bunutan also has no beach to speak of so you will have to lay by the pool or go to Amed if you want a bit of a suntan. If you are looking for a quiet, scenic retreat with gorgeous scenery, this is the place for you!
Coral View Villas is a wonderful place to stay if you are in Lipah (Amed). The staff at the hotel and the restaurant are very friendly and helpful. The on-site restaurant serves pretty tasty food. We stayed in a one-story bungalow and it had a nice patio out front with a table, loungers, and a hammock. The open-air bathroom is spacious. They provide a safe, mini-fridge, and a mosquito net. We had a fantastic time at Coral View Villas and I look forward to staying there again.
A beautiful beachfront setting with stunning ocean view - we loved staying here. The gardens and the infinity pool were lovely. There were 2 pools with heaps of recliners and pool service. The facility had a lot of steps which would be an issue for someone with mobility problems. We stayed in a villa and our friend stayed in a room. Both were big and clean with fantastic sea views, nice bathrooms, good a/c. The TV was poor with no English channels but DVDs were available from reception. The breakfast was modest but delicious and if you are a big eater, you could supplement the meals by buying extra items. The fruit juices were freshly made-beautiful!. The restaurant meals were nice in a beautiful setting. Don't expect 5 star meals because it is not a 5 star facility. 5 minutes walk to the supermarket but there were no other shops around so we didn't spend any extra money except for meals and snorkelling & boat trips. The beach is black pebbles. Lots of people did diving courses-we only snorkelled. Snorkelling with plenty of fish and coral just off the beach but it is hard to access at low tide. Local fisherman are on the beach to book snorkelling and boat trips with and supply snorkels etc. We found snorkelling at the Japanese Wreck best for fish--we got there with a driver who came back to pick us up- and a boat trip to the coral garden and temple was good but I wonder if the area is overfished. We found this a great place to relax-we would definitely go back
Divers and snorkelers head to Amed, located on Bali's northeastern coast, where the USS Liberty shipwreck is located in nearby Tulamben. Traditional outrigger boats welcome passengers aboard for fishing charters from Amed's black sand beaches, and paddleboarders can gaze at Mount Agung as they glide along the surface of Jemeluk Bay. Beachfront bungalows and cottages offer tranquil stays in Amed.
