Last minute stay in Hawkshead
Nice location, middle of Hawkshead village. The room is fine but basic. Comfortable bed. Cleanliness ok although it was not cleaned behind the bathtub for example. Struggled with the bath / shower (too low pressure, either scolding hot or freezing so tapping up a bath is your only option). Service was great, breakfast good. Do note that you need to pre-book dinner in on of the village pubs (preferably before your stay) as they are fully booked every night and did not take walk ins at least while we were there.

Our stay in Hawkshead.
Staff were very friendly and professional. Information was excellent. Darren organised and booked us into a local restaurant for our evening meal. The breakfast at the guest house was superb. Throughly recommend.

The owner was a lovely man who was personable and helpful, very informative. We stayed separate From the main house in a annexed room which was nice and clean. The bed was comfy but small. The shower is set so you would have to sit in the bath to use it. The main house is large and attractive, we went for breakfast on our first morning there and the seating was odd, it was meant to be for social distancing but made very little sense. Two tables had been pushed together and one person sat at one and the other faced as though two people who didn’t know each other were sat at a four seat table. All this would have made sense if then a family of four hadn’t come in and sat together with no distancing implemented. It would have made more sense to just have a two person table socially distanced. The breakfast was ok. All in all it was a good stay, a lovely village and close to amenities, excellent fish and chip shop and a lovely pub over the road that does excellent food.
