Classy Hotel with Breathtaking Views

Posted 18-Apr-2016
For the second leg of our honeymoon, we visited Positano and stayed at the Hotel Villa Franca. Situated high above on Viale Pasitea, we were treated to breathtaking views of the Tyrrhenian Sea, and we couldn't have selected a more beautiful hotel to spend our time. As we arrived shortly before the busy season, we had the opportunity to get to know the staff well and spend quiet afternoons beside the rooftop pool. Although we didn't dine at the Li Galli Restaurant, we did enjoy many specialty cocktails at the Gallis Bar. Andre, their resident mixologist, makes the most delicious drinks, and while they're a bit pricey, they're certainly worth a taste!

Lovely hotel in a beautiful setting with fabulous views. You need to be quite fit to get around as nowhere to park so all on foot and hotel a near vertical 20 min climb from the beach. Hotel does have a shuttle bus though. Breakfast disappointing for a quality hotel with little choice of fruit, and scrambled egg and bacon the only options on the hot buffet! Rooms all seemed good but bathrooms small and no tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms. The stunning position and views are to die for so you can forgive some of the other details. The pool was far too cold to use but the sea was much warmer when we were there in November

4 couples stayed at Hotel Villa Franca for 3 nights. The hotel is beautiful and very clean. The rooms were small but the view was fantastic. The hotel is centrally located. We did have a couple of issues with service. We used the hotel shuttle to go to town and called the front desk to pick us up. We waited 45 minutes before anyone came and only then because we called someone from our group who did not go into town to tell the front desk to pick us up.

Beautiful boutique hotel in Positano

Posted 09-Nov-2015
Pros: The breathtaking views from their restaurant, I also liked that every room has a small terrace where you can sit and relax.
Cons: The floors of our hotel room always seemed a little dirty, also I wish they offered more shuttles throughout the day.
Location: There are a few restaurants nearby, but other than that there is not much going on near the hotel. You would have to walk down to town's center.
Hotel Villa Franca is a small boutique hotel in Positano. It is in a good location in that it is right next to the stairs which lead to the beach and center of town. However, on that note for those people who have trouble climbing stairs or walking it would not be ideal because it is not in the center of town. The views from the restaurant are divine, and the staff is very polite and accommodating. The hotel has a nice chic boutique type vibe but it is on the small side as I presume most hotels in Positano are. The rooms are quite small, but I think that other hotels would probably be similar. I recommend paying extra for a room with a view, because it's spectacular waking up to that every morning. We only had a partial view and I did regret not having a better view. All in all, I would recommend this hotel to visitors. It's clean, chic, and the restaurant/bar are very good. It is on the pricey side though and booking any day trips through the hotel can run your tab up, but we always felt safe and in good hands.

Honeymoon in Positano

Posted 05-Nov-2015 on Hotels
We stayed her during our honeymoon in Positano. This hotel is beautiful and the restaurant on site is also very good with amazing views. The breakfast is one of the best hotel breakfasts I've had. Beautifully decorated and wish we could have stayed longer. The staff was also very helpful and friendly. It's quite the trek to walk down the steps to the beach/main area of Positano. We are young and in pretty good shape and my calves were sore for days afterwards. If you're short on time I would recommend a shuttle or car. Extremely tiny elevator and the doors kept closing on us but everything else was great. We would definitely stay here again.

Could not be happier with the hotel it was amazing and even though it is up the top of the hill the hotel runs a shuttle bus to and from the centre of town which is really good cause a taxi ride coat 25 euros one way .

breathtaking but paper thin walls

everything was amazing except for the fact everything can be heard from other rooms ie. Baby crying. Also a little far from the main village, it was a good thing they provided a shuttle service.

The hotel lobby was nice, but the room was NOT in good condition. - The bathroom had a ton of mold - The room was infested with ants - One of the lights by the bed would not turnoff (literally had to sleep with the light on for the three nights). We told the front desk, but no one ever came to fix it. - The room was hardly cleaned each day - I don't think they even swept the floor. The hotel rooms have very thin walls. Each night it sounded like a herd of buffalos were running upstairs. We barely slept the three nights we were there. There was one gentleman that worked at the front desk that was incredibly unhelpful (also, quite rude). We tried to book a day trip through the hotel, but he dragged his feet for so long, that we missed the opportunity. We emailed their team before we arrive about the booking, and then asked when we arrived. However, the rest of the staff was informative and provided great recommendations. Overall, this hotel is not worth the money. I'd go elsewhere.
