Beautiful Positano Hotel

Posted 26-Aug-2015
Pros: The location & beatifully decorated decor
Location: Positano beach & shopping. Great restaurants, it is highly recommended walking to find nice traditional Positano restaurant on the roadside.
Villa Franca is a beautifully situated 5 star boutique hotel atop of Positano. We visited Positano to relax & enjoy the beautiful seaside & where not disappointed. Andru & all the staff where friendly & made our stay one that we are keen to do again in the very near future.

Fabulous views

Posted 22-Jul-2015
This is a beautiful hotel with spectacular views and a lovely pool area for relaxing and lunch. However it is quite a long walk or a huge number of steps to the beach. Or a shuttle every half an hour. No big deal just be prepared!

Nice hotel with a roof top pool.

Good location, about 10 minutes walk down to the beach and restaurants. The walk up is mostly stairs however the hotel offers a shuttle morning and evenings. Beautiful views overlooking the water.

The real Positano Experience

Posted 07-Jul-2015
Pros: The restaurant is excellent - 5 star food & service. Our rate included 1/2 board which meant that breakfast and dinner included - a nice surprise.
Cons: It's expensive! Shuttle to town could be more frequent.
My wife and I just stayed at the Villa Franca for our honeymoon (room 47). We both loved it. It's a small boutique hotel with highly personalized service. The rooms are fairly small, but that's typical. The location is excellent because the hotel has perfect views of the water and hillsides, and it's at street level so no need to climb stairs to reach the hotel.

Great hotel with incredible views from both the rooms, restaurant and pool. We had an excellent stay. The only downside is the walk to the beach. There are many steps to get down to the beach and port and coming back up is even harder. Not a walk someone with health problems can do. The hotel does offer a shuttle service though.

Nice hotel but all about the image.

Advertised queen sized bed was 2 singles pushed together. The restaurant is massively overpriced for food that is high in presentation but low on taste. Disappointing when there are so many nice restaurants near by. Breakfast is ok and the decor and the pool are great.

Unfortunately, completely disappointed

Posted 24-Jun-2015
I really wanted to like this hotel, and I tried hard to ignore the intolerable flaws but it was futile in the end. It's worth pointing out that I have never ever complained about a hotel before so this really is true. The good: the hotel looks lovely inside, the rooftop area is stunning, breakfast is great, view from the hilltop is superb. The bad: The noise in this hotel is an absolute deal breaker. We stayed 7 nights and were exhausted when we left, not one good nights sleep, we even had to buy earplugs. There are so many noise issues. Originally we were below ground and this was just ridiculously noisy, the elevator makes a noise all day and night, the kitchen staff slam dishes together down the hall until 1am and start again at 6am. The walls are paper thin, you can hear everything, and I do mean everything. We were moved upstairs which was slightly better so if you do stay then at least request a higher floor. The hotel is completely tiled and this acts as an acoustic nightmare, every person tramps up and down the stairs until all hours and the sound floods through all the hallways. The doors to the stair cases have no "soft close" mechanism so again, every time somebody accesses the stairs the door slams repeatedly and is so so loud all night long. It pains me to say that this is the worst hotel i have ever stayed at due to the noise. It's far from town as well so I am sure you can find a better alternative closer to town, the shuttle service has limited benefit.

Incredible view

Posted 14-Jun-2015
Perched on the top of the forward mountain in Positano (splitting the two halves of the city), the view from the pool, dining patio, and breakfast room is unbelievable. Rooms have breathtaking views from their own balconies, too. Spectacular restaurant on-site. Rooms/doorways are far from "soundproof" and we heard hallway activities early in the morning. Jacuzzi tub didn't work in the room, and there is a wide spectrum of knowledge and helpfulness amongst the small front desk/concierge staff. Wireless was inconsistent, went out each time there was an afternoon storm. Still, the hotel was incredible, and we would definitely go back to Positano and Villa Franca.
