The Station Hotel has a very convenient location—right across from the train station / Union Square and within walking distance of the city centre. The price is reasonable, which makes it appealing for budget travellers. However, I wouldn’t stay here again. The room showed clear signs of wear and tear, particularly the bathroom door, which was falling apart at the bottom, and missing grout in many of the floor tiles. The double bed was actually two singles pushed together at different heights, which made it uncomfortable. Because of its location, the hotel was very noisy, and it seemed there was little soundproofing between the windows and the road meaning we barely slept. Staff were friendly, but the reception area had an overpowering smell. Non-smokers will also find it unpleasant that people smoke right at the main entrance. Overall, while the location and price are good, the room condition, noise, and entrance environment mean I would not return.

Average at best. Not particularly hospitable. I was locked out of my room twice. I met a lovely elderly lady in her zimmer staed on my corridor,who was also having difficulty accessing her room. I offered to help. When that wasn't feasible I then went down to the reception. I rang the buzzer 3 times. Just no staff. Bags of rubbish left in the corridor. Fruit flies in my room suggest it may well be needing a look in to regards to hygiene. I did extend my stay, mainly due to mobility issues, but I doubt very much that I'll be back. A shame as it's a decent area. More effort is needed.
