"Modern and homely hotel"
Stayed here for 1 night after reading excellent reviews. Would definitely return. Hotel is modern and absolutely spotless. Food was excellent. Friendly and helpful staff. If visiting Troon again I would book rather than the larger hotels available.

"Did the trick..."
Reception was polite and efficient, there is no lift to the upper bedroom floor and the staff are happy to help up stairs with cases, if needed. On leaving, I hadn't thought ahead, unable to call from top of the stairs after a bit another guest helped me down with my case. The room was very clean and well prepared, which was the most important thing. The room décor, particularly in the bathroom, could be considered now dated - shower still a 'stick to me' curtain and pretty low pressure. The room door jammed open unless given a very hard push, sounding like the corridor shook outside. At night, I easily heard people moving in corridor - worried about the door, I checked it - with the lights out, I saw the light from the hall shining underneath, through a good one inch gap at the bottom and I could see the shadows of the people still moving about outside... so I put the security chain on. Being a light sleeper anyway, thankfully the hotel and people were quiet that night. Two beds were joined to make a king, as requested - one of the sides had very collapsed springs. Overall, the hotel was quietly located but still ideally accessible to main roads for our travel & commitments the next day. The restaurant was very nice, service professional and our meal was excellent, with very generous portions. All the staff were very friendly and helpful throughout. I would definitely be happy to stay again (room with fitting door preferably), and possibly the hotel is due a refurb soon :-)

"Great value and comfortable"
The hotel is conveniently close to the station, next to a nice pub, good value and comfortable. At that price bracket it's hard to fault other thab WiFi could have been faster. Given the self check in and out nature, the staff review is based on the cleaner who was very patient given how slow we were.
