A footpath leading to the delightful village of Bidford on Avon passes in front of the cottage (1 mile) with its shops, pubs and a supermarket. If one carries on over the bridge, a further mile, will bring you to a great little village pub the Cottage of Content at Barton. Cheerful and welcoming! In the other direction a path rises up above the village and can be followed to the delightful village of Cleeve Prior. There you will find a beautiful 15th century church and equally old pub, The Kings Arms. With its beams, log fires, real ale and great food it is everyone's idea of an English Country Pub. There is a quiet route through the lanes to the Stratford Greenway which give cycle access to Stratford on Avon. The River Avon itself is only a few hundred metres walk and children delight in helping the boats navigate the lock at Marlcliff. Some guests even do a spot of fishing. ## Property amenities ### Internet - Available in the cottage: Free WiFi ### Parking and transport - Parking on site ### Kitchen - Dishwasher - Hob - Oven - Refrigerator ### Dining - Dining table ### Bedrooms - 4 bedrooms - Bedsheets provided ### Bathroom - 1.5 bathrooms - Bathtub - Hair dryer - Shower - Soap - Toilet paper - Towels provided ### Living spaces - Dining table - Fireplace - Living room ### Entertainment - Smart TV ### Outdoor areas - Barbecue grill - Garden ### Laundry - Laundry facilities - Washing machine ### Comfort - Heating ### Pets - Pet friendly - Welcoming cats and dogs only - 2 pets total ### Suitability/Accessibility - Designated smoking areas ### Services and conveniences - Iron/ironing board - Phone ### Location highlights - In a village ### Things to do - Golf ### Safety features - Carbon monoxide detector (host has indicated there is a carbon monoxide detector on the property) - Smoke detector (host has indicated there is a smoke detector on the property) - First aid kit - Fire extinguisher ### General - Garden ## Policies ### Check-in Check-in time starts at 4:00 PM Minimum check-in age - 20 ### Check-out Check-out before 10:00 AM ### Special check-in instructions You will receive an email from the host with check-in and check-out instructions ### Pets Pets are allowed Service animals are welcome, and are exempt from fees Welcoming dogs and cats only 2 total pets Restrictions apply; for more information contact the property on the number on the booking confirmation ### Children and extra beds Children are welcome ### Events Events allowed: family gatherings and birthday parties ### Smoking Smoking allowed: in designated areas ## Important information ### You need to know This property is managed by a private host (a party not acting within their trade, business or profession). Would definitely recommend this cottage. ##### Janet L. Stayed 3 nights in Oct 2018 ### 10/10 Excellent #### Debbie C. 5 Oct 2018 #### lovely cottage We spent a good week here at this cottage tucked into a corner. As a family group of six it offered cosy rooms with 'me' space and privacy. A good size downstairs double bedroom with bathroom next door. Perfect for my elderly parents. Geoff makes himself easily available if needed and the cottage is well equipped. We encountered no problems. Centrally located for plenty to do in surrounding area. ##### Debbie C. The cottage was full of history as parts were 500 years old. The grounds around the cottage were very pretty with tulips and other flowering bulbs. The cottage was exactly as advertised and the check in and out process was very easy to follow. Geoff the host made contact via email and then a phone call to make sure everything was as it should be. Our experience exceeded our expectations and we would definately highly recommend this property. ##### Toni D. My children aged 6 and 9 loved exploring the house and beautiful gardens. The downstairs bedroom and bathroom were perfect for my mother in law who has mobility problems. The house and garden are a great size and have everything needed for a comfortable stay. Loved the books and art work. The curtains and the bedding could do with freshening up, and there was dust in places. The shower curtain was spotted with mould. At the very reasonable rate charged I can live with this and it didn't spoil the stay, and wouldn't prevent me from recommending or returning. ##### nicola p. Stayed 3 nights in Jun 2017 ### 10/10 Excellent #### Emma W. 8 Jan 2025 Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication, location, listing accuracy #### Wonderful relaxing stay 5\* We were a group of 7 ranging from 24-86 & a dog - the cottage was an absolute home from home. Downstairs bathroom & bedroom meant my mum with mobility issues was comfortable. The tiled floors downstairs mean no worries about dirty feet and paws. The house is comfortable & homely, you don't feel like you are treading on eggshells as everything is well used (in a good way) so you're not scared about touching anything! It feels warm &relaxing. 5 mins drive to Bidford with takeaways and Co-op. Lovely river walk on the doorstep for the dog. Geoff was fab, lots of communication & everything you could ever need to know in the folders in the house. The only things to be aware of - which are specified in the listing - are that the parking is not right by the house (& you need to reverse out up the lane), garden isn't enclosed & you have to go through the single bedroom to get to the twin, the bathroom is downstairs. These minor "inconveniences" are more than made up for by the amount of space. All the bedrooms are spacious and the downstairs layout means everyone can be together but have their own space & there is plenty of seating for everyone to sit together by the fire or at the table. We had everything we needed to cook a full roast dinner (the slow cooker was a bonus!) The wood-burner is massive and wonderful. So all in all I can't recommend Geoff's cottage highly enough. If you want high end modern spec then it's not for you, but for cosy comfort in a home that feels loved 10/10 ##### Emma W. Lovely walks and a great spot to explore the cotswolds. The garden isn't enclosed so slightly tricky with dogs, but worked fine in the end. Was lovely to meet Geoff and hear about the place too.
