The Portobay Falesia is a lovely hotel overlooking the beach with amazing views. The pool was lovely, with plenty of loungers and some lovely bean bags and outdoor sofas dotted around the gardens. The staff were excellent, polite and efficient and nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was good, with plenty of lovely hot coffee and quite a variety of juices, smoothies and fruit as well as the usual hot stuff and breads. I enjoyed my stay, it was just a short walk to the bars and restaurants and I found plenty to do. The beach is lovely, and I walked a couple of times to Vilamoura along the beach, about 6 miles . The only downsides I found were that I had to pay to use the safe deposit box, and dressing gowns and slippers weren't provided (but available at a charge). In other hotels of similar status I have always had these provided at no extra cost. But overall I enjoyed my stay, and would definitely recommend this hotel.

Pocket Guide: Algarve Albufeira Porto Bay Hotels & Resorts Hotels

The former little white fishing village of Albufeira, now densely developed beneath a sea of apartments and mid-rise blocks, is the region’s most popular resort. The pretty Old Town is wall-to-wall restaurants and bars, though some local establishments and residential areas still remain. Its picture-postcard Fisherman’s Beach, with spectacular ochre cliffs and rock stacks, remains an iconic, albeit often very crowded, Algarve sight.
