Given Al-Qatrana's primary role as a transit point, the best area to stay is along the Desert Highway (Highway 15).This main road is the central artery through Al-Qatrana, making it the most convenient spot for travellers passing through. Accommodation options, while limited, are typically found directly off this highway, offering easy access for those on a road trip between Amman, Petra, or Aqaba. You'll find petrol stations and basic amenities along this stretch. For travellers on a longer journey through Jordan, staying along the Desert Highway is ideal due to its practicality. It provides a straightforward overnight stop without requiring detours, allowing for an efficient continuation of your trip the next day.

The best time to go to Al-Qatrana is during the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) months.During these periods, the weather is pleasantly mild, with warm days and cooler evenings, making it ideal for exploring the historical sites and natural landscapes of the Karak Governorate without the extreme heat of summer or the chill of winter. This avoids the high temperatures that can reach over 35°C in July and August, and the colder conditions in December and January when temperatures can drop to single digits.Couples looking for a comfortable and relaxed trip will appreciate these shoulder seasons. The moderate temperatures are great for visiting nearby attractions like Karak Castle or embarking on desert excursions, allowing for a more enjoyable and less strenuous experience. The clear skies also offer excellent opportunities for photography.Families travelling with children will also find the spring and autumn months more agreeable.
