Wonderful place to stay right on the best beach for snorkling. We saw turtles everytime we went out. You are in walking distance to everything you need. I would recommend renting a car if you want to go to Tulum, Coba and some of the Cenotes. Highly recommend the Grande Cenote. Tulum ( on the ocean) has wonderful views but at Coba (in the jungle) you can climb one of the ruins. It is huge and the view from the top is amazing. It's a bit of a walk through all of the ruins. They have bikes to rent, but you need pesos for that. Wonderful place to stay! Everyone there is so nice and helpful. I would highly recommend staying here. It's nothing fancy but it was perfect for us!
The property had exactly what I wanted...proximity to beautiful Akumal Bay. We ended up in a 1 BR condo with a balcony on the bay. Fantastic view.
We originally booked a pool view room, but requested the upgrade upon arrival. Noel(sp?) was very welcoming and after some cajoling he was able to find us a Sea View room for the night.
It's wonderful! Beautiful beach extrem friendly employees! Meal wonderful and 3 restaurants with awesome meal! Just perfect and I would recommend it.
But stay away from the company life style they are bothering the guests and just don't sign any contracts with them and enjoy your vacation!
We had a great time, the hotel, the food and the staff are mostly great. Things we would have improved: the activities at the kids club. On the babies club, there were too few adults per child, so it wasn't fun at all for them. My 3 year old daughter didn't want to stay. They just took care of them, no activities.
Also, the staff of waiters (coffee, drinks, spoons, etc) need a little more attention. The food is wonderful, but you have to fight for a spoon or a fork.
"Nice location, lack of security and beach mainten"
First of all, a shout out to Fátima at the front desk, Marcos in the restaurant, Victor the night watchman on the beach. All the staff wad great, but those are the names I recall.
The main problem with our stay was the lack of beach maintenance. Unfortunately, the Caribbean is having a serious problem with dead seaweed washing up on shore. Other properties have people cleaning it up as it comes in. This property only does it in the morning. So, when you step out of your room you are greeted with the stench of rotting seaweed, which smells like manure. The usually lovely sea breeze has the same stench allday.
The other issue was the lack of security lighting at the entrance by the road. We are used to using public transportation. But the lack of security lighting made it rather scary. It's hard to see where to cross the road, and we worried about stepping in the wrong place.

We love the hotel grounds there are amazing, the beach was nice although this year Mexico is having a big issue with algae. The sal water pool was very interesting and all the wild life that you can see on the hotel grounds is great. Most of the employees are very friendly, when we have a problem in our room it was resolved immediately. The restaurant services should be improved. During breakfast time, in the buffets you need to stay in line for a long time until they assign you a table, even when there are lots of empty tables inside. When you finally have a table it can take another 20 minutes until some one show up to serve you a coffee and on top of that is always cold. They never come back to ask you if you need anything else. One night for dinner time in one of the restaurants they told us that we have an hour wait and we decided to stay, then two hours passed and they still didn't have a table for us. These people don't have any idea how to manage restaurants and organize reservations.
I had been in many all inclusive not only in Mexico but other countries and this restaurant service was very bad.
We want to say thank you to Eduardo at the Mexican restaurant because he was above and beyond to make our dinner excellent and also to Marta during the beach BBQ at the Kantenah.
I went with my boyfriend and two of our good friends and we had a great overall experience! The resort is absolutely beautiful. We stayed at the colonial section of the resort, and had very quick and easy access to everything (the food, beach, spa, etc...) which was all fantastic! Although I would say we ate at the beach access buffet only once; it wasn't up to par with the other options-- but the rest of the food, the beach, the pools, and the spa were absolutely gorgeous and the service was fantastic. One thing I want to mention is make sure you set up reservations for the restaurants when they open the desk (one person has to get down there around 7:15am) or you will be eating very late if they can squeeze you in. The only other thing I would add is if the manager tells you she is going to make something complimentary make sure you either watch her call ahead to tell them or get it in writing. Anyways, all said and done, we had a great experience! The place was beautiful, the staff happy, and the excursions offered are fantastic. I would highly recommend the Tulum excursion. It was a jam packed all around awesome experience!

Good: The resort area was very clean, and there were plenty of restaurant options. The pool area had plenty of activities going throughout the day - water exercise, yoga, bingo, dance lessons, ping-pong, etc. The paths around the resort were really beautiful. There were paddle boats, canoes, and surfboard-like activities included in the cost; be sure to get there early to enjoy them! We got to see some fish on our own with snorkel gear without going too far into the water. The kids got a kick out of seeing so many iguanas and coati hanging out.
Not so good: I was disappointed that the beach area was quite small compared to the hotel we stayed at in Cancun. We were looking to spend more time in the ocean floating around, throwing the Frisbee on the beach, etc. There really wasn't much clean sandy area; I would recommend taking water shoes due to rocky areas. There was so much seaweed that it smelled bad. Of course, this might have been the same issue in Cancun if it was due to a storm going through earlier. Our room was really cold at night and the "2nd bed" (a couch with cushions out) was super hard.
All in all, I would recommend this resort if you're ok with taking a "trolley" to different parts of the resort. The fitness room, miniature golf, other lobbies, different restaurants, etc., were a bit far to walk especially when it was super hot. Getting a shaded area ( & lounging chairs) around the pools was easy since there were so many in the resort.
Just returned from our second trip to grand palladium riviera maya, and first time in the royal suites. Definitely worth the upgrade! Great rooms and service from private carts around the sprawling resort to room service to priority in dinner reservations to, our favorite, the private royal beach with beach beds and service, the royal suites allows you to relax like royalty on an amazingly beautiful beach.

Snorkeling and diving are popular in the small resort town of Akumal, and at Kantenah beach to the north, where the coastline runs parallel to a protected coral reef. In the summer months, sea turtles crawl onto the white-sand beaches by moonlight to lay their eggs. Yal-Ku Lagoon, once a trading route for the ancient Maya, is a bird watcher’s paradise, and can be explored by foot or kayak.
