Had a wonderful time staying here. Staff were friendly and wanting to make our stay pleasurable. Everything was in walking distance so great location and the views of key sites in the city were impressive from the hotel.
Arrived early after disembarking from a cruise. We were able to check in early. Room was spacious and comfortable. Staff was friendly as well as helpful. Breakfast was not included and thought price was expensive. Rooms had fridges and kitchen facilities so good place to stay if you are planning to stay for a period of time as can have breakfast in the room and if so inclined can also cook.

Upon first arrival at the hotel, I was greeted with a smile and was made to feel welcome. The Americal style breakfast buffet has so much choice to offer, that you will always find something to eat. I cannot fault the hotel for it's location. You only have to walk around the corner and you are very close to Hadrian's Arch and Zeus's Temple. If you don't mind walking you can continue up to the Panathinaic Stadium. You can then cut across and go through the National Gardens and come out near the Greek Parliament and watch the guards and you get a real treat on Sunday's when they change the guards with a grand affair. If you head to the Acropolis and Parthenon, which is only up the road from the hotel, you can either hop on a bus which then takes you around Athens and you can get on and off as many times as you like, or you can continue walking down behind the Acropolis and you can get to the Ancient Agora and Keramikos Archaeological site as well as visiting Monastiraki Square with it's flea markets. The rooms are very clean and comfortable and the bed is turned down everyday. You also have 2 hot tubs on the roof which have excellent views of the Acropolis, which is also lit up at night. All the staff were very friendly and happy to assist with anything you asked for. I thoroughly enjoyed my trip and am certainly going back again. I chose off peak so that I could take my time walking around these wonderful sites without too much traffic. I hope you enjoy your trip too.
Everything was excellent.... From the hearty welcome and glass of refreshing juice, to the high end quality of the hotel. The staff was incredible and the location couldn't have been better. You will not be disappointed!
The Hera is certainly in a great location for being in the heart of the Acropolis. The hotel, although touted as recently renovated, was very dated in the rooms. The carpet in the halls was dreadful, loose and stained. The room was tiny, yet comfortable. There was a tiny frig but it was stuffed with "mini bar" items. For a place that has been renovated, it seemed very old. Breakfast was included, but it was basically the same every day and if you were not there early (7am-11am for breakfast) the "hot" food was not hot. I think it was sufficient, but if you think 4 stars will be like in the USA then rethink. The staff were, however, super helpful and very nice.

On the southern edge of Plaka, the pedestrianised archaeological promenade skirts the foot of the Acropolis, cutting between the pine-covered slopes of Filopappos Hill and Herodes Theatre (built 2 AD), hosting open-air performances through summer. Close by is the New Acropolis Museum, designed by Swiss architect Bernard Tschumi.
