Hôtel bien situé. Belle chambre confortable et personnel très agréable

We booked this property in April 2026 thinking it was one house made up of one dwelling. We booked one night and after some deliberation we booked a second consecutive night separately believing it would be the same property. Upon arrival at the property we soon realized the house was divided into two separate residences, an east wing and a west wing. At no point did Black Sheep Hotels tell us that the property was made up of two residences and that we had in fact booked one night in each residence. During the morning following our first night we received very direct and bad communications from Black Sheep telling us in no uncertain terms that our behavior was unacceptable because we had not packed up our belongings and vacate the premise. At the time of receiving these communications we were on a train and unable to get to the house. Our belongings were packed up and moved to the residence in the other side of the house. We returned to the house later that day, packed up the car and left, as we were so upset with the way we had been treated It is unusual for us to leave any comments like this on expedia, but we feel strongly about the poor treatment we received from Black Sheep and our goal is to prevent this from happening to any other family in the future. Black Sheep Hotels need to do a better job of making clear that this property is two separate residences and let future visitors know if the have in fact booked both residences consecutively, whether by accident or not

Staff were friendly and gave us a good larger than expected room on arrival which was good. The hotwl is positioned in a very peaceful area. We had a room on the ground floor at the back so there was no road noise but lots of noise late at night when other guests were arriving to their rooms. Walls/floors are thin! The water coming out of the taps and toilet was yellow..not sure why. Bottles of yellow tap water were being served to customers. The menu was not to our taste far too much spicy food. I had to send the corn on the cob back as it was covered in spice. We were then brought a new plain one and were not charged which was good. Can't comment on the cooked breakfast as we only had fruit/continental options.

We arrived and I thought the stairways smelt somewhat musty. Our evening meal was adequate but no more, though the waitress was very helpful and diligent. In our room my partner thought she could smell exhaust fumes that evening, I was somewhat congested and commented that the car park was a long way away. In the night I became wheezy and my partner felt ill and reiterated that she could smell fumes. In the morning I too could clearly smell exhaust fumes and although our windows were shut felt the fumes might be infiltrating elsewhere. The boiler was sited below our room with a 20 cm exhaust pipe at the back directly beneath our window ( in room 5) so the fumes were coming in from the small vents above the double glazing and in truth I had not seen how to close these but then why/how should I? I pointed this out in the morning t the manager who ststed he could not smell the fumes and stated that nobody else ever complained. I shortly after asked a younger staff member to come into the room and he confirmed he could smell fumes. The manager assured me as we left that he would get a boiler expert to come and make sure teh situation was rectified. My partner used the downstairs lavatory before we left and she stated that the floor was awash and that the facility was very smelly. Very dissapointing

Really nice! Heated bathroom floors, great shower, all toiletries provided! Afternoon tea was lovely. And dining was lovely!
