Feel like royalty in this great old home

Pros: fancy and beautiful
Cons: get some real coffee for Americans, the instant stuff just doesn't cut it.
we enjoyed the charm and beauty of this wonderfully appointed mansion with its woodwork and elegance.

Pros: The decor fit, and everything looked clean and tidy.
Cons: Restaurant staff training and breakfast food quality.
Location: The construction nearby limited some of the drives around, as we only stayed a short while after visiting Stonehaven.
The food was great for dinner, but the service was a bit off at the bar - there was confusion with some previous orders missing when the system went down, and other patrons commented when my girlfriend and I got our beers and food before them. It appeared staff hadn't replaced the lost orders, and that lead to repeated visits to the affected tables instead of handling them one by one. Similarly for breakfast the hostess was also servicing tables, and wait staff weren't around tables to refill water or coffee without flagging the hostess. The bacon was overcooked, and breakfast was not to the quality that the price or dinner the night before had lead me to expect, though it was sufficient and filling. Generally the front staff training and food quality at breakfast seemed off given the visual appeal of the hotel and the effort that went into that experience.

Shame about the food and the price of drinks

Posted 02-Sep-2017
Pros: The bed was very comfortable
Cons: Food and price of drinks
Location: Location beautiful a bit off the beaten track
Stayed at this hotel for a friends wedding. The breakfast on the first day was awful, cold and lacking. The food at the wedding was exactly the same inedible and breakfast on the 2nd day was no better. The price if drinks was ridiculous and drinks were a different price at each bar we used.

Pros: the main building, en la place it is in.
Cons: Another entrance, the corridors are very long
Location: walking around, spa, gym, countryside
A good place, according to the place and the history of the city... a good breakfast..

This is a luxury hotel with a nice heated pool, hot tub, sauna, etc. We saw a fox on the grounds.

Nice but tired

Pros: Location
Cons: Nicer furniture
Location: We were just passing through
We had a comfortable overnight in the hotel. Just thought the bedroom furniture looked tired as well as the common areas.

Hotel Overview

Posted 21-Aug-2017
Pros: Location away from the city core and would need a taxi or car to get to the city but lovely grounds and a grand old world style building.
Cons: There seemed to be a problem with the number of staff to handle guest needs. They have a wonderful scotch whisky bar but was never open as a result.
Location: Beautiful grounds in a quiet setting near the river but a must to take a taxi or car to the city for any sightseeing, restaurants and shops.
We arrived during a family fun day so it was quite busy and noisy with paper debris flying around the front entrance. It took a while for a bellman to get our luggage. Our bedrooms were a hike from the lift and reception/common areas so if anyone has walking issues, request a room nearer to these. Breakfast was included in the prepaid package but there was some confusion about who we were - not part of a tour group - we were initially sent to a function room for our meal instead of the dining room. Soon corrected. The buffet assortment was good but several items were missing due to delays in the staff replenishing these. One needs to book a dinner reservation ahead of time or space/time might be an issue. We ended up having our first dinner in their bar/lounge. Bar beverage selections were somewhat limited in comparison to other locations we stayed in and because the Scotch Whisky bar was closed they had to walk our choices over to the main bar. Bartenders were very friendly but of the few there - a staffing issue again - needed to learn more about their drink choices. We had them trained before we left! Rooms were clean and bright with all amenities. Otherwise, a very lovely place with grand lounge areas and a nice spa/pool facility.

Lovely hotel on the outskirts of Aberdeen

Posted 03-Aug-2017
Pros: Excellent value for money and a beautiful building.
Stayed here for just one night with my husband whilst visiting the Gordon Highlander's Museum near by. This is a beautiful hotel. It is like a small Scottish castle and has views across the open countryside. We had a lovely meal in the hotel bar in the evening and also a great breakfast the following morning.

Nice Hotel

Posted 24-Jul-2017
Pros: The scenery was lovely. The hotel bar was lovely. The restaurant was booked so it offered a great alternative to dining.
Cons: The hotel had glasses randomly left throughout the property. The spa front desk person didn't provide any description of the services available.
Location: Short drive to Stonehaven and Dunnotar Castle.
Overall our experience was good. We were pleased with the accommodations. The hotel itself is lovely. The rooms are spacious and extremely comfortable. The service is good, but it would have been nice to have front desk recommend that reservations for dinner be made. We ended up dining in the lobby bar because there was no room to dine in the main restaurant. Good for a little getaway.
