It was very comfortable, you get greet by the owners and they take pride of their place and their service. Very quiet I was able to work their wi-fi service is very good, and I was able to rest too. If I go again to that area I will definitely stay there again.

Hi Maria, It was great to see you both and give you a 10/10 stay which is what we always try to achieve. Yes, we have excellent wifi. We dislike "typical" hotel wifi as it's always slow but we use our wifi all the time so it needs to be reliable and fast, and it is just that. We look forward to seeing you both again in the future.
Beautiful large home well appointed.
Room was large and very nice. We enjoyed the complimentary breakfast.
Both the onsite parking and the walk from parking to the front door were icy and dangerous.

Thank you for your review. We're happy you enjoyed your room and breakfast. Sadly icy weather can sometimes create issues. We did mention another area that would have been more level you could have parked. We apologize that you didn't feel safe on your walk from your car and will be sure to address this with future guests as needed. We hope to see you both again if you are back in our area.
Small room, common area like a museum,no tv, or decent reading lights, I got the impression that it was for display only, not to use. As a fireman I was concerned with fire exits off the second floor. There was the main staircase and a service staircase that may or may not have been a exit. Breakfast was disappointing.

We're sorry a B&B wasn’t a good fit for you but we’re happy to address your comments.
1:”Small room”. Size is stated on Expedia where you booked. You could’ve booked a bigger room if you wanted. We try to call guests when they book, you never responded to our voicemail.
2:"Common area like a museum, no TV or decent reading lights". The large living room has two sofas, four wingback chairs & long window seat. There are table lamps, overhead chandelier & 5 wall lights. Guests often read in there. If you needed more light, we would’ve happily turned on more. There’s no TV in there & never will be. It’s a common area & we want guests to enjoy reading, socializing etc. without noise or worrying about who picks the channel. Unlike many B&B's we do provide tv's in guestrooms. We have a cabinet that contains pictures of the Brewster family & also a picture and letter from President Truman when he stayed here. Our home is on the National Register of Historic Places and we proudly honor the history.
3:“Fire exits”. As a fireman, we’re surprised you missed the 8.5" x 11" fire exit plan on back of your room door & fire exit sign outside your room. You would’ve passed exit signs and fire extinguishers coming and going, as well as the hard wired smoke/fire detectors & alarm. We wish you’d told us any concerns. A firefighter stayed in that room the week before who complimented our setup.
4:“Disappointing breakfast”. That was a shock. We take pride in what’s served & get many compliments. Between the hot dish, homemade strawberry bread, homemade fruit salad, hardboiled eggs, and selection of cereals, oatmeals, bagels, muffins, bread & the drinks station, there are many options. When aware of dietary needs we also work to accommodate those. If we’d known you preferred ordering only what interested you, we would’ve happily recommend a local restaurant.
Really friendly owners! Clean and updated rooms. Easy to find. Felt secure in the home away from home.

Thank you Laxmom. A lot of guests enjoy breakfast at the Brewster Inn. A sweet or savory dish that changes daily, bagels, English muffins, bread for toast, fresh fruit salad, hard-boiled eggs, fruit flavored breads. We have an incredible strawberry one right now, 2 types of cereal, oatmeal, tea, coffee and orange juice.
We always try to do our best for all our guests to make their stay with us the best it can be.
This is a unique and traditional inn operated by 2 wonderful people. The place is very clean, spacious and full of character. The bed was super comfortable and guaranteed a good nights sleep. Breakfast was good. Very highly recommended

The Brewster Inn is a great location for basing yourself while in Maine. It's the centrepoint of the State. Anglers is a good place to eat and there are some great options in the Dexter area as well.
Loved the historic nature of the house. You really can see the care and attention the the owners have with maintaining this property. A hidden gem in the Dexter area!
Stayed in the honeymoon suite. Very interesting and comfortable suite. The historical significance of the inn added to the pleasure of the trip. Breakfast tasty and generous. Innkeepers pleasant and happy to help in any way. If in area again, would return to the Brewster Inn.

Thank you so much for your review. We're glad you enjoyed your stay with us. You had the room that most people want when free because they love having the sitting area, spare room and of course the large whirlpool tub. It makes us happy not only when guests enjoy their stay, but when guests appreciate the history of the house as much as we do it's an added bonus. We hope to see you again if you find yourself back in our area.
It's a beautiful historic property with a delicious breakfast--the house has a great "old" feel without feeling rundown, the garden area is lovely, our room was very comfortable, and there are unique common areas in which to spend time.

Beautiful restored mansion home, very comfortable, but lots of do’s and don’ts posted everywhere. Mark was very helpful with directions and recommendations for the next leg of our trip.

Thank you for your review. We're glad you were comfortable and appreciated the house as well as assistance on your trip plans. We're sorry you for some reason felt there are "do's and don'ts" posted everywhere. The only 3 things posted are: 1. each guestroom has a no smoking sign reinforcing we are a non smoking facility and that there is a cleaning charge for any smoking that is done; 2. to please lock the front door and 3. staff only signs on the entrance to the kitchen. We're sorry you felt that was "lots" but those are necessary signage. We hope the rest of your trip went well.
Thank you for your score and we're glad you enjoyed your stay. We hope to see you again

Thank you so much for taking the time to post your review! We are so pleased you enjoyed your time with us. We love knowing our guests have had a great stay and enjoyed the house, gardens, and breakfast. We enjoy hearing about the guest's history associated with the town and it's also great when guests have memories associated with the house and/or Brewsters that they can share as well. We hope you'll be back to visit again someday.
Great location in the geographic center of Maine. Property was nice and comfortable. Was a bit warm in the breakfast area in the morning, but breakfast was good. I love old homes with history and this one was a gem.

Thank you for writing a review. We're glad you enjoyed your stay and breakfast. We love sharing our home and its history with others. Unfortunately we were hit with very unusual heat and humidity the week you visited, which may have made the dining room a little warm. We always try to open the french doors onto the back patio to allow for extra air flow. We hope the rest of your vacation went well and that we'd see you again if you ever visit the area in the future.
A unique establishment, worth going out of your way to stay here, if its on your way its a no brainer.

Thank you for your review Dennis. We're glad you enjoyed your time here. The Honeymoon suite is great for relaxing, whether you're honeymooning, or just visiting the area. The band camp is a wonderful thing for the local community and we're always proud to host participants. We hope to see you again in the future.
This is a lovely large B&B in a tiny rural Maine town. The hosts were lovely and the breakfast offered a nice variety. I was visiting on a Sunday on my way after dropping my son off at camp, so I did not spend much time exploring the town, but I noticed walking trails just at the end of the block that wander along the lake.

Thank you so much for posting your review! We are happy you chose to stay with us while passing through and enjoyed your time here. We hope guests enjoy starting their day off with our breakfast. We are blessed that the ITS85 (interconnecting trail system) runs by our place within a couple hundred yards and goes all the way to Canada in one direction. The trails are great for walking, atv riding, snowmobiling etc. It is a beautiful stroll down by the lake. We hope your son has a great time at camp and that we will see you again if you're back in the area.
Very quaint, and close to seeing moose. Owner of bed and breakfast was very helpful.

Thank you for your review! We try to be as helpful as possible so that our guests not only enjoy their time with us, but also their time in Maine. We hope you'll visit again if in the area.
I stayed two nights in an upstairs room.
The Inn was mostly kept in its original condition.
The Innkeeper, Mark, was personable and it was apparent he took real pride in the historic Inn and maintained it well.
My sister lives in nearby Garland and had recommended this inn. The owner, Mark, is very helpful and the inn is immaculate. He is also a great chef, and we enjoyed breakfast very much. In speaking with some other guests at breakfast, we learned that they were repeat visitors. That is the true mark of an excellent inn. We plan to stay here again.
The inn keeper was very friendly and genuinely cared about his guests and his inn. It came across in his presence. The room we were in was lovely, we'd definitely stay again.
We were pleasantly surprised to find out the house was the home of former Maine Governor Ralph Owen Brewster. The present owner compiled a great guest and facility information booklet...enjoyed all the material it included. We will definitely go back whenever we travel to that area again.
This place was super cozy and pretty. Couldn't ask for a more enjoyable experience. The innkeeper was pleasant and friendly and did everything he could to make sure I had a nice stay. I was there for business, but will likely return just because I thought the place was so nice! I also enjoyed Pastimes restaurant down the way; with great food and housed in a historic bank building, the little pub rounded out the experience in an awesome way
The innkeeper goes overboard to try to make sure guests know everything about the inn & are comfortable. We stayed in a lovely room. The decor is beautiful & everything is immaculate. Mark has done a great job restoring this historical building.
Mark was accommodating of my husband's dietary requirements. His breakfasts were very tasty.
We came in for a short period to see family. We were very pleased with this bed & breakfast that we will definitely be staying again. Room was cozy, clean and hospitality great.
This B&B was much more than just an evening stay for the night. From the moment we drove up to this grand and beautiful inn, we began an enchanting experience into a time-era of long ago, while all the time feeling as comfortable as if this had been our own home. Our room was spacious, fitted with a very comfortable mattress, and had more amenities than fit into this review. It is obvious that Mark Stephens has kept the history of this home alive through its well maintained structure, and also through his historical artifact collections.

Only Average
This Inn has ambitions of being an up-market boutique hotel however it fails because it is situated in a pretty downmarket area in a not very pretty town and is run with limited staff. Shame - it could be quite nice.
We were very happy with the inn. Mark, the innkeeper, was incredibly flexible and obviously knew much about the area. Our room was very clean and well-maintained. It had modern conveniences but still had historic charm, which is exactly what we were looking for. The bed was also so comfortable.

Thank you so much for the kind words and I’m really pleased you enjoyed your stay. I like to think that I do know a lot about the area and things to do and places to go etc. I want to make the stay for my guests the best I can always. Hope to see you again in the future
Location was a bit out of the way, but sooooo worth it. Clean, comforable, quiet, and the 'staff' is so charming. Owner went out of his way to make sure I had everything I needed, so much so I felt truIy pampered. I enjoyed my stay and will be back again some day.

Thank you for the excellent review. I’ll make a comment about the Inn being “out of the way”. I’ve got to say it’s all about where you’re traveling from and to. I’m only 20min off I95 and 15mins from RT2 which is one of the main through routes in Maine. Geographically Dexter is also the centre of Maine and all locations in the State are within easy reach when staying here. I get a lot of guests that spend multiple nights here as they can just drop their bags, treat the Inn as their home from home, relax, and go and explore so many different parts of the State. I’m excellent at giving good info on where to go, what to do and all the good things that my guests need to know. I actually write for a Google app called Fieldtrip which is all about discovering new things in locations that you may not be familiar with. I greatly appreciate your comments on the cleanliness and comfort. I check all the guest rooms before my new guests arrive to make sure they are ready. I get a lot of guest’s feedback on how clean they are. My beds are very comfortable and I get a lot of comments on the great sleep that my guests have. Peace, quiet and tranquillity at the Brewster inn, that’s what it’s all about. Thank you for coming, and I look forward to seeing you again in the future
Lovely and clean. Very affordable. Very good country breakfast in the morning to get you on your way.

Thank you for your review. I get a lot of guests stay here because they do not want to stay in a typical chain hotel or motel that’s the same whichever city you go to. They want something that’s different when they walk in through the door and that’s what I always try to provide for them
This is a MUST for any history lovers! We stayed in the room later President Harry Truman once slept in. The attention to historical details and careful restoration of this former governor's mansion is truly outstanding. The service and quality of amenities of this innkeeper is impeccable and the breakfast was memorable with lots of choices, fresh bakes hot items and great coffee. It is a bit off the main routes but well worth the effort to stay there.

Thank you and I appreciate your business very much. There’s a lot of love been put into the Brewster Inn since I’ve been here. It’s come on a long way. We’ve just got more floors refinished inc the room you were in and have been painting and adding new rugs into the guest rooms. Continual improvement is what I always try to do here.
The house is nicely kept with all the historical flavor. It is very welcoming and every detail in the room shows the innkeeper's care and love. The room is extremely clean, comfortable and Mark (the innkeeper) is very helpful in accommodating our needs. The breakfast is also great!

There’s so much to do in my part of Maine from hiking, kayaking, white water rafting to moose-watching, snowmobiling etc. I know where everything is and enjoy very much giving all my guests the best experience I can when they are staying here. I’m so glad you enjoyed your stay and hop to see you again
I liked the place, the host was very nice, the Inn is really nice. It's a little different for me in that I usually stay at hotels so this was a departure for me. the only complaint if I could make one would due that the walls between the room seem to be thin. I could hear the next room's bathroom escapades which wasn't great. that and the fact that there was nothing to do when I got back, nothing going on in the inn I had to go out and find something to do or stay in my room. If you are looking for a nice quiet and beautifully historic come with a great caretaker and beautiful gardens this is a wonderful place.

Dexters not a big city, it’s a small town in the middle of Maine so there’s not as much to do as in the city. My guests come for a lot of different reasons, and if I know what they want to do, I can usually help them have a great time. I also make sure that all my guests know that the Brewster Inn is a great place to relax and rest and just have a great time
We stayed at the Brewster Inn just one night in on our way to Gorman Chairback Lodge. The Inn was very comfortable and thoughtfully appointed. It has WiFi, which is somewhat rare in parts of Maine. Owners are very knowledgeable and great gardeners! We were sorry we didn't have more time to spend in Dexter and at the Brewster Inn!
