Stayed here before, in the summer a few years ago. It was excellent so decided to return. Room was good but AirCon was turned off and staff refused to turn it back on. It was over 20degC so much needed. After an argument we were located to a room at back of hotel away from noise of road so could open windows. If AirCon advertised, it should be switched on!

We stayed at the Grand Tonic for 3 nights. It was a great experience. We spent most of our time outside the hotel, but we had absolutely no complaints. The room was very clean, the bathroom spacious, and very little noise. Being right on the port is the best!
Nice view, balcony, big room, easy walking to many historical sites and restaurants. Bus, tram or subway for other places. Excellent linens and towels, tea kettle with tea or coffee. Very comfortable! Staff is friendly and helpful!

Entrance to hotel was disappointing as the reception area was being done up and had to enter by temporary rear door. reception was temporary next to bar. the gentleman on desk when we arrived was not overly welcoming and did not offer us a map of area etc. that said the hotel itself was very nice and other staff were very friendly. We had a room to the front which we did pay extra for worth the view. Smallest wardrobe I have ever had in a hotel and no chest of drawers. We did have breakfast in hotel which had everything that you could really want. It was so lovely to wake up to beautiful views over the harbour and see the city come to life in the port area.
This hotel is about a 10 min walk from the harbour and has some amazing views from the restaurant and pool / outside seating area. The staff were really lovely and helpful. I shared a room with my daughter who had the sofa bed and although it was a bit springy we put a couple of blankets on it and it was fine. The shower cubicle was a bit tired and had marks on the floor but I think they were due to age rather than cleanliness. We ate in the hotel once and really enjoyed our meal although it was probably a bit more expensive that in the town but that's what I would expect. Restaurant staff were attentive and helpful - we didn't have a burger but they looked very good. It is a good location and I would stay here again.
