"Smal hotel with friendly staff"
Nice people running the hotel - hotel owner stayed up 'til midnight to let us in - we got stuck in a horrendous traffic jam. Convenient parking and nice breakfast. Situated in the town so can walk around town centre.

"One of few hotels in the area."
Used this as a base for visiting battlefields and castles. There seem to be few suitable hotels in the area. Car parking was a flight of steps from reception - which was not a problem on a sunny day in summer. Staff were all pleasant and helpful. Room was clean and comfortable if not modern and stylish (my idea of normal is Holiday Inn Express !) Enjoyed the lounge - reading and arguing. There seems to be no lift. Dinner was good as was breakfast. I think this is a young business: it would be interesting to see where it is in a couple of years time. Anyway I wish them well.

"Would definitely recommend"
This is an excellent B&B at a fantastically good price. Like other reviewers on here we were impressed by how exceptionally clean the room and the bathroom were. The owners are friendly and helpful and very welcoming. If we stay in Howick again, it will definitely be here!

"Improving hotel"
The hotel has got rather shabby and out of date. However, it has been taken over by new owners who have made a start on improving things: e.g. putting in new beds and renovating the public areas. In the meantime, prices have been drastically reduced to take account of the work that still needs to be done.

"Relaxing break"
A very pleasant short break in beautiful surroundings, and is ideal if you want a tranquil, peaceful retreat away from the town, but transport is essential. I could not fault any part of my experience with the hosts and their enthusiasm to ensure my visit was to my liking. Highly recommended.
