"Great location and ample room"
I was very pleasantly surprised once I saw the room: 313 square feet of space, a few blocks from Columbus Circle, for such a reasonable rate is simply remarkable! The room had a comfortable king-sized bed, was tastefully decorated with sleek, contemporary furniture and offered all the standard amenities, including a hair dryer, full-size mirror, nice soaps, and a full-size ironing board. The desk was very comfortable and well lit, with a proper ergonomic chair. I had an ADA-accessible bathroom, which was enormous for NYC! The room was impeccable, quiet, and welcoming. The rest of the hotel, however, is in need of redecoration. The lobby is unattractive and the color scheme was unfortunate. The hallways and elevators are also in need of an update to match the contemporary decor of the rooms; the carpets, in particular, should be replaced. The hotel just transitioned from its former life as a Holiday Inn and the common areas reflect this old fashioned identity. I found the menus overpriced and, given the many choices nearby, I enjoyed breakfast across the street instead. The staff was supremely courteous, attentive, and professional--and I appreciated the nice touch of a little box of chocolate truffles as a welcome gift. I stay overnight in Manhattan at least twice a month and intend to make the Watson Hotel my new home away from home. Excellent value!
