"Great location, first class facility."
Enjoyed our short stay at this hotel. Everything was first class. Our only regret was we got the room on the first floor which is almost like a basement room, all the other rooms were with ocean views. Make sure you do not get the room alma, as this is not good value compared to the other rooms.

"Worth the extra cost"
I stayed in numerous hotels in the Mazatlan area while working in Sinaloa. The rooms ranged from $50-$120 per night depending on the hotel. While Estrella Del Mar was the most expensive, it provided the best service and had the nicest facilities barn none. The room was beautiful and clean. The bathroom was very spacious and felt luxurious. The hotel is designed so that each room is quiet but still centrally located to other amenities (beach, pool, front desk, restaurants, etc.). The free services provided were very appreciated. In addition, the internet was much better than at the other hotels I stayed at in the Mazatlan area. The staff was very professional and kind. This hotel provides much more of a isolated resort feel, and should be booked by people purposefully trying to get away from city center of Mazatlan. It's a small drive to the city, but you will have a very different experience staying at Estrella del Mar than in the city. I would reccommend this hotel for families or couples who want the calm of a resort, the services of a top notch hotel, with occasional access to Mazatlan.

"Nice Place, Mostly Laid Back"
It was all in all a good experience. This hotel is far from any activities so bring your cab budget. It's like 100 ($7.50 USD) pesos to the Golden Zone. I found that much of Mazatlán is Spanish speaking only. My experiences in Cabo San Lucas, Puerto Vallarta, Playa Del Carmen, and Cancun had many more folks who were bilingual. Shame on me for not being but for a tourist town I'd expected a bit less trouble communicating with hotel staff. We were there for 6 nights and only had two real issues during the stay. The first was that they were replacing pool deck tiles with a hammer, chisel, and sometimes a jackhammer. This noise was unbearable, especially bright and early in the morning. A brief question to the head maintenance guy and the noise was limited to afternoon hours and stopped completely over the weekend. Gracias! The next was Sunday night when there were many local guests and everyone had a boombox and/or too much to drink making for loud voices. That quieted down about 11pm but 15m later, the Karaoke started up in the room above ours. They ran until about 3am. That was a bit tough. The final thing was that the pool could have been operated better. It was one of those 'zero edge' pools that requires water to spill over the edge to be automatically skimmed. The water level was too low so it wasn't being skimmed and after busy days there was a float of debris including body and tanning oils on the surface.

"Fabulous hotel… even better hosts!!"
Could not have asked for a better experience! From the day we arrived until the day we left, Ray and Linda were the consummate hosts. Upon arrival, we were greeted with drinks, had a relaxing visit with our host and were given a tour of the property. Each morning we would wake early and take a stroll on the beach. By our return, coffee would be waiting for us along with fresh fruit, pastries and juice. A short time later we would be served a hot breakfast, typically consisting of a traditional Mexican dish. Ray and Linda assisted with planning activities in the area and provided directions to points of interest. After arranging a fishing trip for us, Ray took the freshly caught snapper and prepared a delicious fish fry for us that night. Best we’ve ever had!! The hotel and its setting are absolutely beautiful and so peaceful. I couldn’t imagine staying anywhere but here when visiting Mazatlan. We will definitely return to Mazatlan in the future, and staying at El Sol La Vida will be in our travel plans.
