"Disappointing restaurant"
This was set up as a treat for a friend: nice hotel, nice meal, pleasant room, NICE. But problems from the start. The double room was a Twin which required a long walk to reception to complain. It was eventually put right. We had to book a table upon arrival as we were told the restaurant was almost fully booked, but it was half empty when we ate. The service was poor. The food was especially disappointing with VERY small portions on the starters and the Main was a joke. It would have only half filled a side-plate with tiny chicken breast, two very small baby carrots, half a small mushroom and two bites of potato. The food tasted great but was VERY expensive for the small portions. Afterwards, coffee in the lounge was served after a VERY long wait by a surly lady who didn't smile. This is a not friendly hotel which seems to employ a lot of people with difficulty speaking understandable English.

"Lovely hotel but room too noisy! "
Hotel room was very comfy lovely and clean and bed was big and comfy. However we were on the ground floor with rooms above us and every time someone walked up the stairs the stairs were so loud they almost vibrated the room obviously because of the way they were built in some way. Also the ceiling was so thin we were woken up by the guests upstairs walking or running around in their room until the early hours so didn't get much sleep! The hotel was lovely apart from this, very friendly staff and lovely breakfast.

"Lyndhurst high st"
Enjoyable stay in a characterful hotel with very pleasant staff. Missing any views but you would expect that in a village hotel I suppose! Room was to a high standard but slightly cramped.

"Great hotel in a great city"
Lovely staff, great room, great hotel. My only gripe was the shower would work fine then go scolding hot and freezing cold every 2 or 3 minutes.
