Despite the rugged beauty of the Peak District and its gritty, mining past, Derbyshire has plenty to offer those who appreciate the finer things in life. You’ll find elegant, historical buildings, high-end shopping centres and some of the finest restaurants all tucked away within its borders. Whether you’re visiting Derbyshire as part of your business schedule or are simply looking to enjoy a well-earned rest, booking a four star hotel or B&B in Derbyshire can make your time away from home something to remember.
There’s no such thing as a typical four star hotel in Derbyshire; they come in a variety of shapes and sizes, ranging from country inns overflowing with character to chic, design-led hotels. Many four star Derbyshire hotels have staked their claim with the scenery in mind, and who can blame them? The county boasts some of the most impressive landscapes and panoramas in Expedia, and hotels such as The View at the White Horse at Woolley Moor and The Cavendish Hotel in Bakewell offer incredible views of local surroundings.
While many of these superb four star hotels might drip with old-school elegance, they are more than adequately equipped to meet the demands of 21st century guests. Both The View at the White Horse at Woolley Moor and The Cavendish Hotel offer modern amenities, despite their classic appearance. Both offer TVs, DVD players and even internet access; perfect for cosy nights in. You’ll also find that a good number of Derbyshire’s four star hotels, such as the Breadsall Priory Marriott Hotel & Country Club, have their own spas, so whether you’re a business executive who needs restoring before their next meeting or are simply looking to treat your loved one to some much-needed pampering, there are refined and luxurious spa hotels to help you relax.
Despite the life-affirming countryside, many four star hotels have opted to set up shop in smaller towns and the city of Derby itself. Hotels, such as the Hallmark Hotel Derby Midland and the Pentahotel Derby are within easy reach of the city’s amenities, which include high-end shopping centres and quirky, boutique shops, such as those found in the Cathedral Quarter. Towns, such as Matlock and Bakewell, offer a different kind of shopping experience, with regular markets selling top quality local produce and unique gifts in the form of arts and crafts.
Whether you choose a four star hotel in the wilds of the Peak District or in the heart of Derby city, you’re sure to find plenty of good places to eat. Derbyshire has become something of a hotspot for foodies, with chefs creating exquisite dishes from local produce. However, it’s worth remembering that many of the four star hotels in Derbyshire boast their own restaurants, serving meals to rival some of the best establishments in the county. The Casa Hotel in Chesterfield is a prime example, with an award-winning restaurant and seasonal menu enticing customers throughout the year.
Derbyshire is a stunning county packed with excellent attractions, superb shopping and fine dining. Booking a four star hotel in Derbyshire is the best way to make the most of your stay.
