We stayed at the Nikko princess Kyoto for 6 nights. Our Room 1111 was really big and has an amazing view over Kyoto. It was very clean and bed was comfortable.. the breackfast in the lobby was correct, which was a combination of asian and western food. Overall we had an excelent stay and if we go back Kyoto we will definitely choose again Nikko Princess.

Hotel is a bit old but it is very clean and comfortable. The service of the hotel staff is excellent, the concierge made some reservations for us at some top rated Kyoto restaurants. The hotel is close to the subway and Keihan railway, and it is very convenient. It also offers a shuttle to go to Kyoto station. Highly recommend this hotel to other travelers
I have never stayed at a Ryokan, but having stayed at Matsui Honkan, I would definitely do it again the next time I am in Japan. The Ryokan is beautiful and conveniently located near downtown Kyoto. I stayed in a Japanese style room equipped with tatami mats and the whole traditional fitting. It really made me feel as if I was staying in a room in an older Japan era. The bath in the basement is beautiful and very relaxing and the staff were very accommodating and friendly. I wanted to try traditional Japanese Kaiseki (which you normally have to book well ahead of time) but to my surprise, not only did they try to find places for me, one of the hotel staff ran out to a local kaiseki restaurant to ask in person and the restaurant managed to accomodate me when they were fully booked. I would highly recommend this place!
We booked the 90 sqm suite, like the room set up and enjoy the views from courtyard downstairs.
We watched and learned how to make nice match and enjoyed their homemade matcha cookies.
Not only they provided excellent and comfortable stay for us, they also made our trip easier and better with recommendations and local maps.
Definitely will recommend to our friends.
The facilities are new and the hotel is close to subway station that connects to main attractions in Kyoto. The staffs were very friendly. They helped us make restaurant reservations and even printed maps for us. We will choose this hotel again next time we visit Kyoto.
