"Nice new hotel, great stay "
I stayed at the Element for 3 days in mid-September 2016. While a good 20 minutes by tram or metro away from Amsterdam center, it is convenient not only to Zuid and RAI stations, but also close to Amstel Park, which is a gem and is not very discovered. It's a 10-15 minute walk (depending on your speed) to the Zuid (South) Station, 5-10 minutes to the nearest #5 #ram (Leidseplein/Centraal Station) or #51 Metro stop (Zuid/Amstel/Waterloo Plein/Centraal). Nice quiet area, hotel is quite new and in great shape. Nice gym, guest laundry (a big expensive but cheaper than sending it out to be cleaned), not much of a lobby area. Breakfast room is nice, breakfast was fine but not a huge selection - it did the trick. My only complaint is that the air conditioning, at least in my room, did not work well, and it was a hot & humid period in Amsterdam so the room was rather stuffy. The lowest temperature setting is 20 degrees (C), but it really didn't seem very cool - could have been a problem with the thermostat in the room. Other than that, very comfortable bed, kitchenette, good internet service, nice shower, and a decent price. Not much more I could have asked for; certainly would be hard to find that standard hotel/room for that price close to the center of Amsterdam. It's really a nice compromise - not too far from Schiphol Airport, not too far from the Centrum via public transport, clean, comfortable and well priced.
