My wife and I needed somewhere to stay in the area and the Devils Punchbowl offered a rate including breakfast that was far more competitive than anywhere else in the vicinity. We got a pleasant welcome from reception on arrival and our room was clean, comfortable and tidy. Breakfast was good value and the only reason our overall rating wasn't higher was the bar, which only offered only one real ale (which was past its best) with draught lager, cider and bottled beer as the only alternative.
I would recommend the Devils Punchbowl to anyone who puts value for money ahead of a special place to stay.
Beautiful hotel, recently renovated which means they have state of the showers, beautiful throws and proper duvets, spotless white gorgeous bedding, fantastic decor throughout the hotel. The rooms are separated slightly from the fullers pub with a separate entrance. The breakfast was fabulous where you can order from a menu and food is made to order and fresh, included full English breakfast, eggs florentine, pancakes with fruit and maple syrup, porridge with fresh fruit. Fresh fruit and cereals were also laid out on the table, beautiful dining room with chandeliers.

We travelled down to stay at the hotel as it was nearby where a family member lived. The Hotel itself is very hard to find at night, so better road signs would help, especially around the local villages, after traveling all day due to arriving from the USA earlier in the day then hitting continuous road diversions enroute from Lancashire....heck I was ready to just sleep in the car on the roadside as we had so many problems trying to locate the hotel,
The front desk guy was polite when we rang through to say we would be late & helpful when we eventually arrived.
We stayed mid week for one night, but it was noisy as a group on the same floor were constantly going from room to room....and the walls are basically paper thin.
We didn't try any food there, so can't comment on that.
The bed was pretty hard, but luckily we were exhausted so managed to fall asleep.
An extractor fan in the bathroom would be helpful as there are none.
Anyone 6ft tall, be prepared to duck your head in the shower, as the ceilings are low.
The hotel is situated in a nice quiet area, surrounded by greenery which was nice to see, and private car park which I appreciated as I had a car full of items that I really didn't want to have to remove that night.
The night porter was very helpful upon a late arrival. Receptionists also were marvellous by tracking down a local garage to cut through our damaged luggage lock as our wedding outfits were inside!.
Yes the hotel is a little tired in places but we would have no qualms of returning to a most welcoming venue, comfortable bed and tasty full English breakfast. The hotel is set in the midst of the country. Idyllic.

Hotel a bit sad, staff superb.
Why such a limited and weird menu? Following a visit two years ago, was expecting the same standard of food and accommodation but did not find it. What has changed, please?
Following a recent stay at The Mercure White Hart Salisbury, had hoped for the same all round excellence at the Mercure Bush, Farnham.
Looks lovely from the outside but absolutely fabulous inside. Roaring fires, accommodating staff & food worth writing home about. Surrounded by lovely walks of varying distance and an awe inspiring sculpture trail. Well worth a stay.
Generally ok for a building of this age, very limited parking. Wanted to eat after being out all day, food had stopped being served and it was not even 8 o'clock. Seemed a bit under staffed, especially at breakfast.
