Hotel Zen Airport

Camino de los Fresnos, 9, Torremolinos - Map

"Airport convenience-free shuttle"
I needed a place to stay the night before the obscenely early 0640 Iberia flight to MAD. This place fits the bill perfectly- clean, warm, friendly English speaking staff. Their food lacks pizazz, but I was looking more for a warm shower and a good night's sleep prior to a long journey home to Charlotte than for a gourmet meal. It is a bit tricky to find, and I spent quite a bit of time driving about trying to find it and the staff could not direct me. It was a friendly clerk in a nearby gas station who finally drew a map for me to find the place. But that off the beaten path location is precisely why I had a good night's sleep- it is in a very quiet spot away from the main highway, not too far from La Colina train station if that helps you find the place. The staff offered that they would come and get me if I found the train station.

"Centrally located 3* star no frills hotel"
Although showing its age in areas, La Barracuda is clean and tidy, including spacious rooms with a large restaurant area, along with professional friendly staff willing to assist guests if able to do so. Priced within the economy/mid range which matches its facilities, location and requirements for travelling guests either solo or family.

"Good value hotel and studio"
Spacious self catering studio in quiet area but close to beach and shopping areas plenty of cafes and pubs close by. We had some meals in restaurant which we thought to be really good value. Would go back again.

"Cheap and cheerful and close to the beach."
To be upfront, this hotel is not a luxury hotel! It is very inexpensive, and the accommodation is basic. The hotel room contained a double bed, bedding, a mini fridge, personal safe box (for an extra fee), small flat screen TV and air conditioning unit. The reception staff are friendly and speak English, although to varying degrees of proficiency and were always helpful. The rooms, while dated, were cleaned every day. Breakfast buffet is included, and contains both standard English breakfast and continental breakfast. They do have a la carte dining in the evening, but we didn't try this as there was so much to choose from outside - why would you want to eat in your hotel? The wi-fi only works in the reception area, and the small seating area on the first floor - but this generally wasn't a problem for us. Whilst the hotel looks a bit tired and dated, it is certainly cheerful and very well located to enjoy the sea front. There is a supermarket a few doors up on the same street, and ATMs a few doors further than that. There is a small swimming pool in the front garden that is well maintained. If you just want somewhere to rest your head and don't want to pay the earth, then I couldn't recommend this hotel enough. If you want more luxury and amenities from your hotel, then you'd best look elsewhere. I'll be back!

"lovely hotel close to the beach and promenade"
The room consisted of self catering board with many facilities including an electric cooker, toaster, microwave, and kettle. nearby local supermarket included LIDL. there was a supermarket in the hotel as well a laundrette, hairdresser and gift shop. With an small extra premium we took the room with a full view of the tides breaking onto a sandy beach as well as guests settled around a pool and this created a lively atmosphere with refreshingly cool April winds blowing into the room. this contributed to a very real feel of being in the Mediterranean and away from hectic UK life style and the UK weather. the Spanish community were friendly and well accustomed to a variety of tourist backgrounds

"Close to amenities "
Very nice hotel with friendly staff, though could do with some updating, our shower wouldn't sit in holder so had to shower holding shower in one hand. Beds were very hard, good selection at breakfast.

Pocket Guide: Malaga Torremolinos 3 stars Hotels

There is more than meets the stereotype to this Anglo-centric seaside resort. While most of Torremolinos is a brash high-rise heaven for fun-loving Brits, the low-rise western part is patronised by the Spanish and has a very different character. Soft golden sands stretch either side of town and there is a huge choice of entertainments by day and night. Aquapark is a white-knuckle water world; Tivoli World is the region’s major theme park.
