"Nice hotel on main road through Askrigg. Comfortable room ( No 12) but a little small with 2 single beds. Bathroom had separated bath and ensuite shower. Very nice cooked breakfast and good service throughout. Didn't take evening meal but seemed popular for drinks and meals. Free parking at the rear. Only problem for us was room 12 was up 4 flights of stairs with no lifts. Check with the hotel when booking if that will be a problem for you. Beer garden out back."

"This was on our bucket list and so pleased we went absolutely fab place. Food was great and service was great the room was fab and the bed was kingsize and very comfy we had a great time. This is an ideal place for walkers and cyclists "

"Lovely hotel. Will say before all else - the food was amazing! Breakfast was brilliant but we also ate in the restaurant the night of and this was delicious. Would drive 1.5hours to come back again! "The property was seeped in history. We stayed in room 3, the Kings room. A lovely compact room, spotless with lovely little touches such as a great selection of tea, coffee and hot chocolate, a fresh little bottle of milk, a comfy bed, feather duvet, black out curtains, great shower and toiletries. "What a great find. The perfect stop off on our way to the Highlands. The room (room 5) was incredibly spacious and clean. The service was friendly and genuine and the food was well cooked and great value. The breakfast in particular was clearly cooked to order and piping hot. Definitely recommend this place. "

"It was a one night stay and the kitchen was closed. They phoned ahead to tell me and the staff on that night were really friendly I also managed to get a cheeky wee burger as the work was done so quickly! Yummie "
