"Best hotel in Oxford"
Superb rooms, service, food and location. Every detail perfect - including complimentary minibar and snacks. Far superior to The Randolph. (But probably only for the able bodied as many stairs).

"Can't fault it"
This is our second stay here, this time for my son's graduation. Very happy with our room, beautiful view of college opposite. Can't really fault anything about the hotel.

"Great location for Oxford, friendly staff"
Our standard double room was a decent enough size, the bed was comfortable, the room was quiet and the shower pressure was great. The hotel was in a great location to walk to the park and ride into Oxford. We got a good price for it, and the inclusive use of leisure facilities is always welcome as it helps us make the break more relaxing, especially after lots of travel. A special mention to the restaurant and bar staff, they were very friendly, while retaining their professionalism. They made us feel welcome and you could see they had a personal touch with regular customers.

"NICE HOTEL TIME FOR UPDATING"
We have stayed here many times over the years, the hotel is convenient to the city, the river walk, friendly, quiet, well in fact all you would want for your stay. but I have to say that over the past two / three visits we have noticed a slight decline in the standard. There are slight stains on some walls both in rooms and corridors, chipped paint, small stains on carpets, frayed edges on carpets and this time we had stains on the bed throw. general wear and tear that needs to be addressed now before it gets worse. Bathrooms are lovely though. the garden is great for kids to run around safely. Breakfast could be better, served on white plates with no thought to presentation just always looks bland, however the quality is fine. Reception staff are very helpful and friendly, always have been. Breakfast, if you bring a guest is quite expensive for what you get at £14.95. Don't read this as a negative review because it is not intended that way, the hotel just needs a freshen up. Will we stay here again? Yes we will.

"Nice hotel"
This is the perfect hotel to stay for a couple nights. The only problem that i found was the fact that it´s kind a far from the city center if you dont have a car and depend on buses.

"Good value guesthouse"
The guesthouse is in Summertown in North Oxford, which is a small but bustling town with lots of facilities very close by: lots of restaurants, a couple of pubs, supermarkets, and a few other shops. There is a regular bus link to the city centre, or it's roughly a 25-30 minute walk to Broad Street. The staff at the hotel are very friendly and accommodating, and check-in/out were very easy. The room was of a good standard: spacious, pretty clean, and with a large en suite bathroom. The shower was temperamental the first morning of my stay, but was better the next day. The double bed was fine - large and comfortable, but with a small difference in level in the middle (it was two singles pushed together). The hotel is mostly quite quiet, but there was occasionally a small amount of noise on the main stairs, e.g. with families leaving early. This was not a large problem, though. Breakfast was very good, and generous - it was essentially continental-style (croissant, toast, cereal, yoghurt), plus boiled eggs, tea, coffee on request. Overall, I had a good stay - the hotel was good value, close enough to the centre of Oxford, and the staff were very friendly.

"Fine for three seasons of the year"
Oxford isn't generally known for being hot or muggy, so the lack of air conditioning at the hotel shouldn't be a problem. But for summer stays, those who are heat averse might think twice about staying here. The room was small and clean, but hot and humid. But it was also inexpensive and very conveniently located. In sum: Fall, Winter, Spring--go for it. Summer--let the traveler beware.

Pocket Guide: Oxfordshire Oxford 3 stars Hotels

The dreaming spires of Oxford have inspired poets, musicians and novelists. Home to Inspector Morse and the world famous university, it also has a rich industrial heritage. The Ashmolean Museum is one of the finest in the country, Cowley Road is lined with cool pubs, and punting on the Isis is great fun, but most visitors are content just to wander the cobbled streets and soak up the grandeur.
