"Guest House near Centre of Oxford"
The Sportsview was undergoing renovation, so navigating within the building was a bit awkward. It consists of several tall, narrow attached homes that have to be accessed through different doors. The upper storey room was OK, typically small, but quiet. The included English breakfast served in the basement floor was good.

Nice hotel but room really needed a deep clean, and all the doors squeeked! Sink and bath water didnt run away until the morning. Apart from that very convienient for Oxford and plenty of easy free parking right outside.

"Beautiful garden, trendy cafe, very basic rooms"
Staff very accommodating of our late arrival. Lovely cottage-like feel to this Victoria house, only fire doors and fire escapes made the first impression unpleasant. Room was sparce and unwelcoming. Very dated feeling. Cheap, painted dressing table. Very unpleasent old fashioned bathroom. Neon strip light. Quiet and warm though. Impression picked up in the morning. Though we couldn't figure out how to check out (there's no reception - just a cafe). The garden in the sun is a heavenly oasis. Palm trees, a beautiful cat, lovely food.

The location is perfect, and breakfast was delicious! We really liked the Tower House, but it is in an older building (the floor was uneven, there was little ventilation). I would still stay there again!

"Wonderful place for a no frills stay in Oxford. "
I stayed here while attending a conference at the University. My room was clean and I had a bathroom in my room , which is always nice. The breakfast in the morning was also a nice touch (A variety of breakfast cereals, granola, yogurt, cold meat, cheeses, fruit salad, toast, and the like). What made this stay really awesome was the staff. The Manager Sean was beyond friendly and so helpful. Remember, this is a guest house, not a hotel. So there is not 24 hour front desk, but if you know that going into it (don't just think you can drop in at 1 AM and get a room) you will be fine. Even if you cannot make the standard window for check in (i did not) just call ahead and let Sean know what you need. He will get you taken care of.

"Small homey hotel could do with fire alarm repair"
Arrived 11 am very sleep deprived from prior activities. Was able to leave my bags, then check in promptly at 2 pm and nap easily. Owner Pete was very nice. Room was adequate. Floor had irregular surface occasional depressions under the carpet. No light at desk. Seemed clean. I would stay here again if they improved/replaced the fire alarm system. Awakened at 12:15 AM by fire alarm, had to evacuate building for 20 min. Seemed as if no hotel staff actually slept on premises-had to wait for someone to drive from another part of town to shut off the false alarm. I was told the alarm had gone off once or twice earlier in day. About 1 am, at a time when I was deeply asleep again, alarm went off briefly 2 more times.

Pocket Guide: Oxfordshire Oxford 3 stars Hotels

The dreaming spires of Oxford have inspired poets, musicians and novelists. Home to Inspector Morse and the world famous university, it also has a rich industrial heritage. The Ashmolean Museum is one of the finest in the country, Cowley Road is lined with cool pubs, and punting on the Isis is great fun, but most visitors are content just to wander the cobbled streets and soak up the grandeur.
