Pocket Guide: 3 Stars Hotels in Maui
Staying in Maui Island’s 3 Star Hotels
Maui Island’s three-star accommodation ranges from beach-side villas to large resorts nestled in the island’s lush landscape. Each hotel offers a traditional Hawaiian feel and makes the most of the scenic surroundings with plenty of outdoor areas. Conveniently located in central spots, each three-star hotel or resort places you within easy reach of Maui Island’s main attractions.
What to Expect at Maui’s 3 Star Hotels
When staying in mid-range hotels, you can enjoy the tropical weather in outdoor pools, tennis courts and while dining outside at hotel restaurants. There are plenty of chances to get involved with nightly luau parties, traditional Polynesian shows and hula classes. Some hotels also have slick spa facilities and tiki bars.
Three-star hotel rooms and villas are fully air-conditioned and have plenty of modern conveniences, including WiFi and satellite TVs. Some hotels offer self-catering rooms with kitchens. But the best bit is being able to relax on your balcony or patio with ocean views..
Staying in Western Maui
On the island’s northern coast, Kapalua is one of Maui Island’s main resort areas. Located at the base of the West Maui Mountains, the area’s coastline has numerous bays and three popular sandy beaches. Just down the coast from Kapalua, the small town of Kaanapali is also a hotspot for resorts and hotels. Kaanapali’s Black Rock is a favourite spot for snorkelers and cliff divers, and Kaanapali Golf Course is within a five-minute drive from the town.
Maui Island’s Best Beaches
The tree-lined D.T. Fleming Beach Park at Kapalua is popular with sunbathers as there are plenty of shady spots for when the sun gets too much. Not as touristy as the nearby Kaanapali beach, it only ever gets crowded on public holidays and weekends, though there are usually groups of surfers and boogie boarders throughout the week.
Close to the town of Lahaina, Puamana Beach County Park has plenty of picnic tables, restrooms and barbecues. The waters are suitable for swimmers, and waves are usually gentle enough for beginner and intermediate surfers. Less than a five-minute walk away, the Launiupoko Beach Park has a pool area, naturally formed by a lava rock wall.
