"Perfect Location. Amazing Food. Unstoppably Hip. "
This jem in the Garden District is downright amazing. First of all, based on what I've heard about this hotels refurbishment, it probably would have been more practical to build a hotel out of actual money, but I'm glad they didn't. It's the historical vibe that gives this place it's charm. The rooms are huge, the staff is amazing and helpful, overflowing with local knowledge, and I'm fairly certain they cook all their food between the wings of angels, because it taste THAT good (order the fried chicken sandwich, trust me.) Is there a pool? nope. A gym? hell no. As it should be. You're in New Orleans. You should be out and about exploring the Big Easy, not running on a treadmill or lounging by a pool. Other pluses- 1) the rooftop bar, Hot Tin, is spinecrushingly hip, offering amazing views of the city. 2) The Bayou Bar's piano player is excellent. 3) The Caribbean Room is a clown car of amazing, with excellent dishes rolling out the doors. 4) The trolley stops right in front of the hotel 5) It's on St. Charles Ave, close enough to walk to Magazine Street, and not close enough to walk to the French Quarter (which I found as a positive, as sometimes, you actually can have too much of a good thing.) Honestly, if you're going to New Orleans, stay here. I realize my gushing may have you believe I have some affiliation with this joint, but I can assure you I do not. My wife and I just had THAT good of a time.
