A great place to stayWe had a great two-night stay at Boxmoor Lodge. The room was beautiful and well-maintained, with a king size bed and a sofa. We often find that hotels have a single comfy chair and a desk chair meaning we have to negotiate over who gets which, so being able to sit on a sofa together was a treat! ...

Lovely setting in rural landscape. We needed to stay in Hemel Hempstead for 2 nights but did not want to stay in the town. The Shendish manor hotel was a great location, quiet comfortable building with a good restaurant. The hotel is also a wedding venue so could be busy at times but there was none during our stay. The old house has ...

Very nice Cottage in a quiet area.Stayed here for one night, very nice room, spacious with a private bathroom, also you get hot chocolate and coffee, tea in the bedroom. I would of liked to have more time there but had a very early flight. Not hard at all to get to Stanstead at 4:30 am. Highly recommend this lovely cottage.

Pocket Guide: 3 stars Hotels in Hertfordshire

The proximity of Hertfordshire to London makes it popular with commuters to the capital. Despite being just a short journey from the bustling capital, the county has one of the most attractive and varied rural landscapes in this part of England, and is popular with visitors at all times of year. When it comes to accommodation types, too, Hertfordshire is not found wanting. Whether your inclination is for a small B&B in a traditional old town like St. Albans or a bigger hotel in Watford, the county's largest town, you'll have no trouble in finding what takes your fancy. Many visitors prefer the flexibility and economy of three star hotels in Hertfordshire when they come here, as a happy compromise between a smart B&B and a bigger hotel.

Hertfordshire 3 Star Hotels for the Outdoor Life

Hertfordshire makes a perfect destination whether you're coming here on your own, as a couple or group, or as a family. The varied landscapes of river valleys, forests and hills like the Chilterns, an official Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, are ideally adapted for walkers, ramblers and cyclists. Theme parks such as Old MacDonald's Farm are popular with the kids, and for sporty types there are spots such as the Snow Centre and Lee Valley White Water Centre. There's so much to do here that the problem can often be simply deciding where to go from your Hertfordshire three star hotel or guesthouse for the day.

History and Culture from Hertfordshire 3 Star Hotels

Hertfordshire is one of the great historic counties of England, its location in the south attracting visitors from afar for many centuries, some of them more appreciated than others! Today, people come to experience the county's beautiful landscapes and enjoy nature to the full, as well as to sample the history and culture on offer in ancient towns such as St. Albans.

The whole region is dotted with stately homes and castles, landscaped gardens and lovely open areas that make ideal day-trip destinations from a suitable three star hotel in Hertfordshire. Many of the more modern towns here, such as Welwyn Garden City and Letchworth, have excellent shopping facilities and if you're based at a Hertfordshire hotel in the region of Elstree you can visit the famous film studios there.

Hertfordshire 3 Star Hotels for Beautiful Landscapes

This is Green Belt land, an area of England within a short distance of Central London that is protected to preserve its great natural beauty. Visitors come here for the rich and varied contrasts they find in the county's alternating areas of forest, parkland and rolling hills like the magnificent Chilterns, and for all the activities on offer. Try white water rafting in the Lee Valley or visit a world-class stately home such as Hatfield House. Whatever your taste in attractions, based at a Hertfordshire three star hotel you'll easily be able to get to where you want to go on the excellent road and rail networks. With all this and London nearby too, what more could you reasonably want?
