"Nice clean warm room, was a little bit of noise which was to be expected in the centre , it didn’t disturb us. Breakfast was nice and served tea/coffee at the table which was nice"

"I did mention that the fridge in my room must be faulty as it froze my bottle of water. I was concerned that a guest may put medications in it and this would cause a problem. Although the receptionist said someone would look at it, it was still the same the next day. Also the fridge was quite noisy. Other than that the staff were very friendly and obliging."

"Really nice hotel friendly staff We arrived at 1.15 check in was 2pm so we had a couple of drinks and decided to have the carvery lunch which was advertised as 12.30-16.30 However when we went at 15.15 was told that they had run out and closed, obviously very disappointed. Was told the bar would serve food from 4pm so had more drinks and waited Bar food ok nothing special but fine. Rooms were nice but no way to open windows to get fresh air. Beds comfy hotel quiet. "Usually choose HI express when in Newcastle. Easy to drive to , car park next door , everything we need (pubs and gigs) in easy walking distance. Staff always locals so helpful and friendly"

"The hotel is quite dated which adds a lot of character to the property. The general areas are relatively clean but the room we were booked in has seen better days. There were some cobwebs near the windows and the floor was a bit dusty. We arrived almost midnight and quite tired so didn’t really do a complete check of the room. "Hotel was ok, was about right for the price. A little noisy at night. Hotel staff were excellent. My partner left some belongings in the hotel room and the staff contacted us a few hours later after we checked out and we were able to collect. Thank you Colin and staff."
