"I cannot say enough good rhiings about this property. The owners Herman and Carla are the kindest most accommodating people I’ve ever met. We arrived late and they were waiting up for us. They helped with the luggage very clear instructions and details about the property. It is clear in every way that that take personal pride in all aspects and the tiniest details. "We found Casa Babel to be an excellent location for our three night stay in Extremadura. We happened to be the only guests at the time, it being low season, so we had the entire place to ourselves. We were warm and comfortable in spite of the weather being quite cold and had everything we needed. We had a very pleasant four hours birdwatching and photographing with Jose although January isn't the best time of the year to see birds. Would highly recommend."

"We had a nice stay at the property. We were a little disappointed that we were given a room with 2 twin beds, after requesting 1 double bed. The rest of the room was great. Very spacious. The location was fantastic! Easily walkable to everywhere we wanted to go. Restaurants, sights, etc. Merida is a special place with special, friendly people! We loved our visit. One other small annoyance, parking next door was supposed to be discounted to 10€ a day. We had our ticket stamped, as instructed,...

"loved the roman ruins that were at the top of the road from the hotel. easy to walk around to see all the sights. alcazabar from outside was stunning and bridge next to it with the river was a good sight. restaurants good. "

"Familiar hotel, the owner is amazing and friendly. We’ve got un upgrade on our rooms, but there were cockroaches and not so clean. Pool was ok, check in and check out ok."

"This “hotel” had an 8pm check-in time which left us waiting in the street below with our luggage for hours. It was exhausting and inconvenient and ruined our one night stay to Merida. I wish I had been better informed so I could have chosen another hotel. "

"This is a creepy little hotel in a creepy little town. Looks like it might be quaint in the pictures, but it is not. Went to the "front desk" to check in and no other guests seemed to be around. A group of loud men who looked like locals were drinking in the bar off to one side of the lobby. We were shown to a room in a building across the street from the main hotel building. The room had a dank musty smell and that was all we needed to decide to go into Trujillo 10 Km up the road to find...

"The hotel is in a fantastic position in the plaza ideal for an evening meal and stroll. The hotel itself one could describe as quirky with the 'open plan' bathroom in our room not really to our. choice but that is a personal opinion. The breakfast was very good with very friendly and helpful personnel. Overall a good place to stay to explore the old town after our initial difficulty of finding it."

"Beautiful hotel. The staff was great to include the folks at the restaurant. Food delicious. Only drawback was that the hotel was not in the main part of Trujillo. Fortunately the can ride to the main part of Trujillo was a short one and the fare inexpensive. It was still a wonderful vacation and experience."

"We were right on the main plaza (plaza mayor), in the heart of this medieval town, just outside of the walled city, so the location was great. There is No Reception, as is stressed in the property description, so they want you to arrive at a specific time. We did not, but a woman did hear me and came out and gave us our keys. One important thing to note is that as it is an old building, there is NO elevator. For older folks who might have difficulty hauling suitcases up two flights of stairs,...

"This has got to be one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. When we arrived we were directed to a screen outside the hotel to self check in - even though there were two staff on reception. When I complained I was checked in by a member of staff. We had our two dogs with us and access was not easy as there are a lot of dark corridors where the lights are on sensors but do not come on early enough. Because of this I tripped over my dogs lead on the stairs and cut my face"
