I arrived late night into cape town. Took a shuttle for 30 rand to the hotel. Check in was easy, room was small but fine and fully equipped. Only negatives were walls didn't have good sound dampening so you could hear people talking in the hallway and bed that I had was very firm.
We enjoyed the friendly staff, a clean and spacy room with an ensuite. Couldn't be better! The communal kitchen was well equipped and clean. Affordable price and safety was excellent ! Will always return and recommend to friends. Location only 10 minutes walk to the waterfront.
Had a magical time at this hotel. The friendliness of the staff, close to everything, they book tours for you, made dinner for us on a night of the week. Did not want to leave after my stay :-)
I had never done hostels before and I decided to stay in at Once when I was in Cape Town. Best decision every! I met some great people and the staff any brilliant. Stay at Once during my time in Cape Town has been awesome.
Super friendly check in experience. Mattresses are comfortable, beds were a little noisy upon first laying down, but after that pretty quiet. Overall it was a good experience though. And it was nice that it was about a 15 minute walk to Cape Town Stadium.
The Western Cape is an affordable destination for travellers with modest budgets, especially when you stay outside of Cape Town’s city centre. Two-star hotel options in Western Cape include lodges at the foot of mountain ranges, cheap hotels on the scenic west coast and practical, trendy hostels dotted around towns such as Mossel Bay and Knysna. You don’t have to spend big in the Western Cape to find your own quaint little cottage in the peaceful wilderness of the region.
If your budget means that you end up staying outside of Cape Town, you’ll have the opportunity to explore beautiful, lesser-known corners of the Western Cape. Find a two-star hotel in Langebaan to enjoy the crystalline waters and golden beaches of the town’s lagoon, or stay in Clanwilliam, a small village positioned between the formidable peaks of Cederberg Mountains and the quiet valley of the Olifants River.
Your voyage of discovery could lead you to the Karoo, an inland wilderness famed for its dramatic beauty. Stay near the town of Montagu, surrounded by the rocky faces of the Western Cape’s mountains, then head into the countryside for rock climbing and mountain biking. The town itself also has charming weekend markets and engaging museums covering regional history.
You can also find two-star hotels on the famous Garden Route, a trail of forests and cliffs that leads along South Africa’s southern coast. Bunk down in one of Knysna’s cheap hostels for quick access to the beautiful countryside nearby. A charming town bordering a lagoon, Knysna offers a host of attractions for people staying in the area. After a day of hiking through the region you can head back to town and enjoy local brewery tours, good restaurants and lively nightlife.
The easily accessible natural beauty that characterises the Western Cape makes the region a great choice for travellers on a budget. Seek out some cheap two-star accommodation, then lace up your walking boots for truly rewarding low-cost holiday.
