Absolutely loved the experience of the hotel. A wonderful historical hotel. Beautiful stain glass windows Staff were very friendly and the service was fantastic. Breakfast terrific-you could even have porridge if you asked. I give the whole experience 5 stars. If I ever return to Callander, I'll stay at the Dreadnought.

"Good hotel"
Read reviews before booking this hotel. Reviews said hotel a little tired but food and service excellent. I agree. Restaurant reception and public areas were great but our bedroom and bathroom although extremely clean were in needof a little tlc. Food was good and overall extremely good value for money. Wood recommend and use again .

"Peaceful seclusion"
We drove into the parking lot in a drizzling rain to be met by Jen, the proprietress, holding a large umbrella. She greeted us and led us into the lodge to show us around. Fresh brownies awaited us. We found her to be warm and fun to talk to, well-traveled and very conscientious about her guests comfort. The lodging was spacious, comfortable, included an en suite bathroom with shower. We were provided ample towels and toiletries. The room temperature was comfortable for lounging and sleeping. The dining area was next to our room for ease of snacking and making a warm cup of tea. Our view was looking out over serene pastures of sheep and new lambs, large old trees and a small river on the lower pasture boundary. The building was 300 years old, constructed of thick rock walls and had charm equal to the historic buildings we came to Scotland to see. Jen prepared a wonderful breakfast for us, arranged around our departure time. It included yogurt, fresh fruit, toast, eggs of our choice, hash browns, bacon and coffee or tea. We could not have asked for better service.

"Superb value."
Very new student accommodation, but don't let the word student put you off. Spotlessly clean, modern room with en-suite. Shared kitchen with all facilities including cutlery and cooking. Would put many 3 & 4 star hotels to shame.
