"Low price, excellent location, friendly staff."
First impressions were slightly marred by some sort of registration glitch that led to us staying the first night at the Huli's sister hotel, the Mavina, just around the corner. However, this led to us being upgraded from a single room to an apartment, so was not a problem.
The staff is very friendly and helpful, the level of hygiene fully acceptable, toilet paper, clean towels and bedlinen supplied regularly. Minor requests were complied with quickly and efficiently. The hotel is in the course of being gradually upgraded, some of the paintwork and carpentry show signs of age. One of the beds appeared fairly new, the second somewhat second-hand, both were acceptably comfortable.
The supplied TV in the Mavina was a modern flat screen model with remote control, unfortunately the last time I saw one like that in the Huli was on the Antiques Roadshow! Fortunately, as neither I nor my wife go on holiday to watch TV, this was not an inconvenience, it was quite adequate for catching a bit of news and weather.
Internet access was only available in the reception area, a more powerful router or repeater would be desirable. Reception at the Huli was closed at 8 o'clock, but the Marvina desk less than 100 yards away is staffed 24 hours.
The view from the balcony was of a vacant lot populated by some entertaining cats, but a bit of sea was visible through a gap in the buildings.
All in all, very satisfactory indeed for the price, we would certainly consider a return visit.
