The Hotel is a pleasant hotel that is a little dated. The clients seem to be from the region with some foreigners from outside the region. Chinese tour groups in particular. When I was there they had a string of wedding receptions for 15 consecutive days.
The staff was pleasant and responded well when you engaged them. The bell hops (grey shirts) were very helpful and the guys that worked the food and drink service in the lobby and lobby bar were outstanding. I happened to meet the rooming cleaning crew and they also were friendly.
If you are looking for a 100% western tourist hotel, this is not your hotel. If you want to get more into the culture and be where the Egyptians and others from the region go, this is your place. In a couple years when the new massive museum opens just down the street, it will be the place to be and in demand.
The check-in process was simple as I had prepaid via Expedia. The room was one of the "bungalow" rooms near the smaller pool. The porter explained to me the features of the room and welcomed me to the hotel and Egypt.
I included the breakfast buffet when I reserved the rooms. Good value for the money. They also had a lunch and dinner buffet but did not try either. I ended up eating a regular meal from the bar service which was both economical and good. The guys that worked the bar / lobby were excellent and engaged in conversation if time permitted. I probably learned more from them than a travel guide on the area and culture.
A very nicely, presented hotel. Beautiful layout. Was a massive let down in regards to Internet, was advised there would be 'high speed' wired internet access in your rooms, the price they charged per day was absurb and the actual internet seemed non-existent. Few staff aren't very helpful and there was a certain communication barrier.
Wael, is a manger in one of the restaurants and is one of the best people I have met. Mohammed, who works in souvenir store within hotel is most welcoming too.
This hotel is well worth the price overall. Very close to Giza Pyramids and only 15 minutes away from Cairo.

the hotel is very comfortable the reception girl there her name is Nermine she is very decent and nice she is very helpful plus she is always smiley ... But the house keeping and the laundry service there is very slow to respond .. The food in the room service is not that much great and the security service is a demanding desaster you'll hate going out and coming back in becuase every time they'll keep asking you for security check although they know you're a guest.. But overall the rooms are comfy the staff is nice and you'll like the hotel
Upon arriving to the Mena House hotel, the staff was nice and attentive, everyone paid attention to detail and made you feel like you just made it home. For a moment, I felt like a King in his castle. The breakfast buffet was amazing and the view of the pyramid was awesome. I never want to leave Mena House! Can't wait to go back!
