The staff, the facilities, the pool were all great, but it was the cleaning staff that impressed me. The room I stayed in with my daughters was immaculate, as if the cleaning staff had envisioned their own family as the next guest to enjoy it!
This isn't a bad place to stay as long as you put you belongings back in your suitcase. We stayed for 5 nights and had to buy some new toiletries after our first night because the cleaning crew took ours. They also threw out some 2 liter bottled drinks we had in the room on the desk.
Was very impressed with how clean the room was, and the friendly staff. However, both days we were there it was over 100 degrees. The pool didn't open until 5pm and when it did open it was very dirty on the bottom (algae) and had pieces of plastic bags and band aids floating in it. We didn't even get it once we saw that. Also, the "restaurant" they claim to have on site is basically a little cafeteria style snack bar that offers a few items during each meal time. It's only open a few hours at a time with one person working. We found it much easier to go to one of the many restaurants or the mall nearby to eat.
History buffs will appreciate Fairfax, once caught between Union and Confederate forces. Monuments to this Civil War heritage include the Fairfax Museum, the Confederate Cemetery, and the Blenheim estate, where stationed Union soldiers wrote poetry on the walls. Nearby, the National Parks Service preserves the Manassas National Battlefield, the site of the Civil War’s first major land battle.
