Expedia recommends for January

With so many great destinations to choose from we have made the choice a little easier. We have selected one of the most popular destinations for travel in January.

Maldives

Maldives

Scattered across the South Asian Indian Ocean are the tiny Maldivian islands. All have an atmosphere that is as close to the castaway dream as you can possibly get. For those who have ever whiled away days wondering what that would really feel like, this is it – but with the reassurance of classy hotels and excellent facilities.

Events and attractions in Maldives

Malé

Most visitors to the Maldives land at the airport and are then whisked away to their resort. Only those that are staying near to Malé, or have a late night flight, ever get to see the city. It is fairly busy with some decent architecture interspersing the mass of governmental and commercial buildings. You can spend a couple of hours walking around (it’s only 20 minutes from end to end) and see the new Presidential Palace, the two beautiful mosques and wander along the seafront. Also worth a gander are the Singapore Bazaar and a cluster

Scuba Diving

There is no doubt that this is one of the top places on the planet for diving. Like no other tropical destination, the reefs and atolls here host some of the most amazing quantities of colourful fish you will ever see. Corals are less prolific than some other tropical regions but the consistency of the dive experience right across the country is unparalleled. Any island in any atoll will be a diver’s delight and virtually every island has a professionally run dive

Sailing

Like learning to dive, learning to sail can be the chance of a lifetime. The warm waters and balmy breezes that sweep the lagoons here create ideal conditions for novices while the months with stronger winds attract many an experienced sailor. Hop onto a small catamaran and sail off into the sunset or cruise around the islands.
