We give you the chance to be as active or as free and easy as you please with our beach holiday destinations. Best August holiday destinations for you

Load up your iPod with tunes for a long haul flight out to energetic New York. Attractions like the Empire State Building, Times Square and, of course, the Statue of Liberty are the reward for the journey. If you’re feeling flush, why not treat yourself to an exquisite something at Tiffany’s jewellery store too?
If the pace of a city break in one of the major cities of the US isn’t quite the holiday for you, the civilised streets of Berlin might be more to your tastes. You can’t leave without visiting modern historical sites like Checkpoint Charlie and strolling along stretches of the Berlin Wall, or seeing landmarks such as the Brandenburg Gate. It just wouldn’t be a Berlin city break without them.
Back on home soil, London spoils families with its vast array of attractions. Tick some of the traditional sights off your bucket list, like the Tower of London or Buckingham Palace, but make sure you also take time to see some of the more quirky attractions such as the Brick Lane markets and the London Dungeon.Orlando, on the other hand, is all about the entertainment. You can spend a family day out at a theme park like Universal Studios, marvel at sea mammals at the SEA LIFE Orlando Aquarium or just bring out the spending money and do some shopping.
Away from all that action lies the city of Florence, in beautiful Tuscany, Italy. You can see works by Michelangelo at the Accademia Gallery and Leonardo da Vinci at the Uffizi Gallery. It’s a real art lover’s holiday.
San Francisco, meanwhile, is all about focal points like the Golden Gate Bridge and the infamous Alcatraz prison. There’s also the waterfront community of Fisherman’s Wharf and colourful Chinatown, where you can replenish with local delicacies after a morning exploring.
These are all appealing destinations but if you’re looking for even more choice, try out our ‘Where to Go’ holiday planner. You’ll be able to identify which times of year are best for visiting certain destinations in line with your desired holiday type.
