Affinia Dumont

Clean, relatively inexpensive, extremely well located. I would recommend it wholeheatedly if it were not for the considerable noise of the air conditioning system that prevented sleep.

Great Location, not luxury but still top class

As the title says a great loacation for New York, just south of Mid-Town. Eat & drink south of mid-town due to quality and cost etc Not a top luxury hotel but for value for money, top notch, service absolutely top-class and made my birthday weekend all the more enjoyable/ The views from the corner suite rooms on the 30th floor were stunning. No breakfast but the Murray Hill Diner is just around the corner, which again is top class. Haggle on the sightseeing buses, well worth a 3 day pass so you can hop-on and off. Got them down to $50 for three days + Statue & Eliis island tickets. Highly recommend hotel for money.

Great location, great space

Our one bedroom suite gave us excellent flexible space as a small family and the hotel location meant we were "in the middle of the action" yet in a location quiet enough to guarantee a good night’s sleep. All the hotel staff were extremely helpful and attentive and I would recommend the hotel for anyone wanting a comfortable and convenient base for a NYC trip.

USS Intrepid - an aircraft carrier based floating museum near 50th that is a little advertised but absolutely fascinating trip. Good for kids and adults alike.

Would Stay Again!

Second trip to NYC and would stay here many more times! One complaint was the smell of their cleaning agents was very strong in the room--but atleast reassuring that things were cleaned!! Everything else was great...and try the Barking Dog!

excellent new york base

This was our second stay at the Affinia Dumont, this time for a week. It is clean, friendly, convenient and reasonably priced ( for central Manhattan!). The staff have always been very polite and helpful and our rooms comfortable and spaceous. There is a subway stop within two minutes walk, taxis frequently pass the front door and it is an easy walk to several attractions. There is a good deli on the corner of the block and several restaurants and bars on the avenue 100m away. We would happily stay again and I would recommend it.

Can’t wait to go back!

I stay at Affinia Dumont as often as I can when I visit NYC. Front desk is helpful, room is extremely spacious, overall service is attentive and yet discreet. Good neighborhood and away from all the noise and buzz. Hotel is operated under great management and dedicated staffs. A real gem in New York City.

Great 10 day stay

The staff was very warm with their greetings from the desk, bellmen, concierge, and maid. Had a corner room on the 27th floor with views of the Crysler building out one window and the East River out the other.

Traveller's tip on dining

The Barking Dog was a really good place to eat. Convenient, selection, quality and price. The owner spent a lot of time there greeting customers and making sure things were going well. The staff was promot, curteous, and efficient.

Great, Great Stay

My fiancee and I selected this hotel based on the majority of other reviews. We were not disappointed. This is the perfect hotel for anyone who wants to have a good time in NYC, but does not want to put up with the noise and hectic nature of Times Square. It is in a residential area of the city, so you get the best of both worlds--local living and, of course, the big city which is just a short taxi ride away. Empire State Building is just down the street, as are the bus tours. There is a Dunkin Donuts right next door for your morning coffee and bagel. I recommend the one-bedroom suite...so nice to come back from day-long sightseeing to a huge, clean suite. The staff were all very cool. Thanks to Dave, the concierge, for telling us how to use the subway and whatnot. We can’t wait to go back.

Traveller's tip on dining

You must eat at the Barking Dog. Great salsa.

Great size room

We rented a one bedroom with living room. it was a great size for 2 parents and 2 kids. Very clean room. The lobby area does not seem quite as new, but it was fine. The couch opened into a bed. DVD player available on request. A terrific gym. Great location. You can find more than 1 French, Thai, Indian, Italian, icecream, deli restaurants all within 1 block. I would definitely stay here again.

Very nice hotel

We were very pleased with our stay at the Affinia Dumont. We had a kitchen in our room and took advantage of shopping at the excellent Murray Hill Market to cut dining costs. It’s only a few blocks walk to the 33rd St. station which is one stop from Grand Central. The staff was very helpful and friendly.

Nice Hotel, location was okay

Pros: * Room was very clean, spacious, and comfortable. * The staff were very pleasant * If you enjoy working out, the fitness and weight-lifting facility was the best Ive seen at a hotel * Charming market on the corner - (Murray Hill Market). Great place to grab an inexpensive breakfast or lunch on the go. Cons: None as far the the hotel are concerned. Only issue was the location of the hotel if you choose to utilize the subway as your primary mode of transportation. If you were looking to spend a lot of time in Midtown or the West-side there’s a lot of walking and transfers to be had. At times it can be exhausting.

Excellent Spot

Had a junior suite on 28th floor overlooking the river, was an excellent view. Staff very friendly and accomodating, kitchenette was a nice thing to have for an extended stay. Location is great, most things in walking distance, Empire State building is on the same street.

Traveller's tip on saving a few bucks

The CityPass was a nice way to see numerous tourist sites for 1 price.

Quaint

This is an older-styled hotel with studio-type rooms. The service was nice. Even though our rooms were not ready, we were upgraded to a suite. This isn’t a large hotel with a large lobby, restaurant, pool or anything. It’s like an apartment complex where the rooms have kitchens and suites had living rooms w/ desks. The place boasts its gym, but we didn’t use it. It somewhat near NYC’s attractions (short walk to Koreatown, ~20 min walk to Central Park) in a quiet neighborhood. Recommended for people who just need a nice place to sleep.

Great Hotel!

We had a junior suite which was quite large. It was wonderful having a full kitchen. The service was great...room service fast, doorman friendly and helped with cabs....front desk helpful and arranged airport transportation. You can walk many places and the subway is close. The only downfall is the charge for internet...$13.95 per day! Otherise great choice for NYC!

Great NYC Hotel

This was my first trip to NYC and this hotel was fantastic. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it highly to friends. It is a short walk to the subway (the 6 train which gets you just about everywhere) and the hotel was clean, quiet and the staff was friendly. The kitchen in the room leaves a little to be desired, so don’t plan on cooking too much. But other than that everything was great! The Murray Hill market is right on the corner of 34th and Lexington, right next to the hotel, and has a good supply of "room munchies" and other supplies. I’ll absolutely be back!

Traveller's tip on nightlife

For a bit of nightlife and evening dining go just down to the corner of 3rd and 34th streets. Try the Mercury Bar, good food, great prices, fantastic drinks. Wednesday evening is ladies night 2 for one cocktails. There are a bunch of bars on 2nd and 3rd streets. Don’t miss Carl’s Steaks on 3rd either, super late night steak sandwich!
