The best position in Edinburgh
Booked on internet and what a find. Great accommodation so close to the city centre. Only about 10 minutes walk to Princess Street. All the comforts of home with a complete kitchen and also washer/drier. Would have loved to stay longer. Comfy beds, lcd tvs, sound system, nice lounge, couldnt ask for more.

Very Impressive
I have stayed with my family in many hotels around the world - this appartment rates as one of the best, if not the best, place I have stayed in. Every little detail was considered. Excellent location - near to city centre, near to shops, near to a cinema. The unit was well furnished with modern fittings. eg. two flat screen TVs in this one bedroom appartment. Very quiet at night even though there are many pubs and restaurants near by.

Noisey building works
Second year that we have stayed here for the Fringe. Not close to the main venues but good for your health to do a bit of walking. Unfortunately, disturbed all three mornings before 7.30 am by builders building and extension. Would not advise staying here at present if you want any sort of a lie-in.

Medium
Nice accomodation and a good location. However the "welcome" pack which used to be supplied was sorely missed this time

Home away from home
Hotel was fantastic. We were up graded to a 3 bed 2 bathroom appartment. We had a a lounge and separate kitchen/diner. The Molton Brown was lovely and we even had a view of the castle. The only down side is the appartment is a little out of the city centre. Its a 20 min walk to Princess St but that wouldnt stop us staying again!

Absolutely lovely place to stay!!
After my stay here I am totally converted to staying in apartments as this apartment was more modern and comfortable than any hotel I have stayed in for this price. 10 mins walk from the old town and about 5 mins to grassmarket for bars and restaurants. Cant fault this place at all

Second Stay Here!
Excellent quality of fittings and lots of space - there was just the two of us but we had a two bedroom appt with en suite. The area is seeing some redevelopment but it is not obtrusive. If you cut through the top of the Union canal you are onto Fountainbridge and then a 5 min walk to Princes St. Lots of restaurants nearby on Grassmarket. We had a problem with the bath - it was fixed immediately. Underground parking is a plus. Its also in walking distance of Murrayfield

Great Apartment Hotel
The EQ-2 apartments are great. We were upgraded to 2 bedroom/2 bath apartment. It was huge for the 2 of us. The apartments are very comfortable and provide a great place to relax at the end of a day of touring. I would definitely stay there again and recommend it to others. Its a little distance to the castle area but you can walk or take a bus. They even provide cleaning tablets for the washing machine. Also because it is a hotel apartment, they clean the rooms every day including the dishes! Wow! The location on the canal is very pleasant. Staff was extremely helpful.

Rude receptionist but excellent facilities
We booked our trip well in advance & then realised we had to chnage it to a day later. To cut a long story short, the hotel screwed up & tried to charge us for an extra day. The receptionist was very rude & said it was our problem & Expedias but not hers! Our advice is to phone at least twice to confirm your reservtion & dates. (Once when its booked & again a few days before you go). However, the room itself was lovely & was ideally located.
Traveller's tip on dining
Lots of reasonable places to eat. Often restarants will do 2 for 1 on main meals e.g. Zizzis. Look on Google beforehand to print off vouchers.

Excellent hotel
This hotel was fantastic. It was more a home away from home rather than a hotel. I only have 2 negative issues, the first being that we were informed our rooms werent ready when we arrived. We arrived about 3:30-4.00pm and the room should have been ready at 3.00pm. If the hotel cannot guarantee this then check-in should be later. The second thing is that the carpet in the living room was slightly grubby for an apartment of this standard, they should invest in some steam cleaning and ensure that the carpets come up to the same standard. Other than that the EQ2 is a fantastic place to stay in Edinburgh. Very central to all attractions. Lots of bars and restaurants very near to the hotel and even some shops to pick up bits and pieces for the apartment. Apart from what I mentioned there are no other negatives about this accommodation. Definitely worth the money 5 star.

Superb Location and Accommodations
We spent a few days here during the festival as part of our honeymoon. The apartment was spacious, decked out and so conveniently located that our trip was made even more perfect! Contrary to what a couple of people have said, the apartments were only a few minutes walk from the Grass Market and Haymarket Station. As long as you are not immobile or lazy, these will suit you down to the ground!
Traveller's tip on dining
there is a great Indian Restaurant on Victoria Street, which leads down to the Grass Market from The Mile called Kushi. You can bring your own bottle and enjoy some great food. Kids can also eat there late in the evening!

Worked great for us
The EQ-2 Apartments are clean and nicely appointed. We had a 2 bedroom with beautiful leather couches, comfortable beds and excellent bathrooms. The people at the front desk were very helpful and pleasant. The apartments are not down in the "thick of it" near the Royal Mile, but it is just a relative short walk. It is also about a 5 minute walk to the Haymarket train station for arriving, departing or day trips. There are several excellent restaurants in the neighborhood. The apartments are next to the quay (canal). The immediate buildings are more modern and it appears to be an area where they have "recovered" property from a more industrial area in the past. One slight negative note -- the building (built in about 2003 or 04) has some foundation shifting -- so there are a few cracks in the walls. Overall, though, the place is excellent.
Traveller's tip on recreational activities
The Meadows park is only a few blocks away, directly to the east and provides a good jogging spot.

EXCELLENT!!
This was a great place, not only did you get bread, milk cereal and yogurt for breakfast, they also provided tea, instant coffee, sugar, q-tips cotton balls, and very exspensive Molton and Brown soaps in the shower. The free in room wi-fi was also a great plus! Short walk to grocery, coffe shops, and all the major attractions in Edinburgh. Lovely staff, quiet place besides the seagulls in the canal, but we liked that! Cant say enough good things about this place!

Great location
It might seem on walking towards this hotel that you have strayed into an industrial wasteland, but turn the corner and you see a lovely canal with modern offices and accommodation. It is in an ideal spot for exploring the centre of Edinburgh from an affordable and very well equipped apartment.

The Best Place to Stay
Quite simply, this is the best place I have ever stayed. Everything was perfect from start to finish. Anyone who criticises this establishment must lead a very sad life!

GREAT place to dstay
The apartments are large and airy. Perfect if there is a couple of couples, or a family. The apt is two minutes walk from a bus stop and a 20 minute stroll from the Royal Mile.
Traveller's tip on recreational activities
Take the number 35 bus to the Ocean Terminal where the Royal Yacht Britannia is moored. The bus journey is about $5 for all day

Is what it says on the tin.
Nice apartment - got a two bedroom suite for the standard price but this was on the ground floor by reception so a bit of noise. About a 10min walk to the castle - Royal Mile. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Great stay in Edinburgh, Scotland
It was great staying in Edinburgh, Scotland. The EQ-2 was all and more than what we expected. What few times we had to call on the hotel personnel for help, they bent over backwards to help us. The only thing that was disappointing was that when we applied for this place to stay, it indicated room was air conditioned. It was not. We would probably stay there again if we visited Edinburgh, Scotland.
Traveller's tip on saving a few bucks
If your stay and hotel has a kitchenette, consider purchasing and preparng meals in your room. This will save you some money. I dont mean dont eat out at local restaurants, just be selective, and you can save some money.

Home from home and more!
Excellent location for easy walking into old town of Edinburgh. Modern and fully equiped ...everything anyone could possibly need for both a long or shart stay. Well maintained and with several eating places nearby...very quiet at night. Good security within the building and excellent bread for breakfast.

Best stay of our vacation!
EQ-2, Fountain Court Apartments was the best place we stayed while in Ireland, Germany & Scotland. Reception was open 24/7 and very customer service oriented. Our apartment was very modern, spacious and kitchen stocked with dishes, pots, etc. We actaully cooked a meal one day. The sound system played throughout including the showers. Only complaint was slightly feeling the springs in the mattress, but still slept well. We would stay here again.
Traveller's tip on saving a few bucks
Instead of having reception call a taxi to the street adjacant to the apartments, walk 1 min. though the pedestrian stone path to Fountain Bridge road which save 3 Euros so the taxi doesnt have to wind through residential streets.

Fantastic Apartment - shame about the area
The Hotel is a fantastic 5* apartment. We arrived for our wedding anniversary at beginning of June and once they found out we were upgraded. Lovely views over the canal but once you go beyond that then the area was not so good. Quite a walk into the centre of Edinburh but there is a bus if you go down the passageway next to Cargo (lovely restaurant) there are bus stops there which will take you into central edinburgh or indeed out to leith and the Royal Yacht Britannia. Hotel provided adequate breakfast materials and they have good facilities should you want to cook your own meals. Cargo have a good menu and you are then only a stones throw away from "base" should you have the odd whisky too many!
Traveller's tip on dining
No particular dining interst in the locality apart from Cargo - you would need to travel/walk into central Edinburgh

Nice modern apartments with uncomfortable bed
Nice apartment complex, safe and secure, modern and efficient. NIce location just south of the very end of the Edinburough quay, a small canal with ducks and swans and long canal boats along the sides. Nice simple furnishings, fully functional kitchen with small combination washer/dryer (very inefficient, unfortunately), small compliment of basic food necessities provided and restocked nearly every day, nice TVs and entertainment system. Major complaint would be that the bed was horrible. We could feel each and every spring coil through the paper thin top pad, no additional mattress cover provided. Felt like you were sleeping on a bunch of 12 pack soda cans . Small builtin washer dryer combo was very inefficient, difficult to figure out the controls, and did a terrible job of drying clothes. Never did get them dry---just hung them on the small clothes drying rack provided in the closet instead. Cleaning folks replaced the towels daily whether or not we hung them back up for reuse, but never once vacuumed the floors during our 7 day stay. 24 hour reception desk was very helpful with directions, phone assistance, etc..., really nice folks. We discovered our last day there that there was a sofabed in the living area too. Three decent restaurants within site of the apartment complex, and at least three small inner city grocers and one drugstore within about three blocks should be able to supply your sundry needs.
Traveller's tip on shopping
Royal mile is predeominated by souvenir shops selling poor quality goods at decent to ridiculous prices, but within the ratrace you can find several quality stores remaining selling decent goods at respectable prices. More modern shopping with less souvenir stores on Princes street and behind it up towrad Queen street if you roam around a bit looking.

Great Location
Great apartments in a very good location - the city centre along with all the main attractions are a pleasent 15-20 min walk away. Amenities were second to non and the staff were very helpful and hospitable, I would definitly go back.
