wonderful expierience
The hotel was wonderful. Guissippe the manager was more than helpful. He showed us around the hotel which was more than I expected. Meetings rooms/ pool/ bar/ restaraunt with several areas in or out. Many places to sit and relax. If you need info then just see the manager and he knows it all. May be a little out of the way but well worth the extra time to get there.

A beautiful Sicilian town
This hotel sits in a beautiful Sicilian town near Mount Etna and most importantly far from the madding tourist crowds. The staff were so friendly and helpful (mostly fluent in English) to the point that we had an early bus to catch in the morning we checked out and as it meant missing breakfast in the hotel, we were given breakfast picnics! The restaurant attached to the hotel served traditional Sicilian food and seemed popular even with the locals. They had a la carte or a set menu for 18 euros per head which changed daily - I would really recommend this - beautiful seasonal produce! Though I also recommend skipping lunch beforehand. The pool on the roof was good and maintained well. If the weather is good it is enjoyable. It did rain a couple of daysand staff apologised - such dedication to customer service!
The town is up the hill out of Taormina (a popular tourist ocean side town -also a local honeymoon spot apparently), so if you dont want low key pottering about I would recommend you hire a car. There are great nature trails practically in the middle of town and the local bus service works well - though keeps its own time (early, late, whatever!).

A little disappointing
I found the staff very helpful - the manager was happy to provide an alternative for my daughters breakfast (she is coeliac) and quickly dealt with a problem with our door lock. However, i found the room very hot (air conditioning motor was above the door therefore didnt reach all areas of the room very effectively), fridge didnt work (made things hotter!) and my daughters room was in need of a little updating. However overall a pleasant enough stay.
Do visit the Alcantara Gorge -only a couple of miles away from the hotel -well worth a visit. You can hire chest-high waders(!) for 5 euros and walk (with a guide) through the (very cold) waters at the bottom of the gorge.
