Coco Rio is an excellent budget choice, much better than staying at 4 star. Really.
Coco Rio is excellent. Great location. Quiet. I received an upgrade to a balcony room due to water problems (that never affected me at all). Just off 5th Avenue, easy to walk to the beach (5 minutes) or restaurants! I loved it. It was quiet. They allowed my friends to park out front in the reserved spot as long as we wanted (while out dancing!), and there is an awesome laundry service across the street. When you are there take a moment to yourself on the upper sun balcony, and definitely get off the tourist grid. Don’t be afraid to take collectivo’s and head out for local tacos. Just ask locals what they recommend! Top recommendation for Coco Rio, only complaint is that the owner is stand-offish. Who cares, when he seldom there? Besitos, Annette in Vancouver.
Don’t be afraid, it’s Playa not Mexico City. Don’t project the idea that people are hustling you, because while they are a little it’s nothing compared to India or China. Relax, enjoy, and DANCE! Definitely enjoy 5th avenue and of course DRINK MESCALI at the bar beside the ’Hidden’ bar I think it’s called. Anyway ask around for the mescali bar, you’ll find it. Locals go there, hardcores so don’t overstay your welcome, but have at least two orange mescali shots and then enjoy. xoxo A.

convenient, clean, reasonably priced
clean rooms, nice big fresh towels every day- excellent location- close to everything yet off the noisier road--- there is music next door on tuesday nights- but its done at 11 p.m. would have liked a soft comfie chair in room, but balcony was great---great location to go scuba diving every day and then hit the beach

try the very small restaurant across the street- smaller portions, but appetizer, main course, dessert and beverage for 75 pesos!
