Good Value for Money albeit with some maintenance issues
Great value for money. Good location..proximity to beach..close to Patong Beach. Very big resort. Only problem we faced was with the service. had to call reception/room service for several times to get problems resolved. We took 4 superior rooms and condition of room was not good. Seems to be old hotel. recommend to go for Delux rooms.

Would definately go back
Having read the other reviews it was with some trepidation we booked this hotel. We chose it for it’s location and it seemed excellent value. We were certainly not disappointed! We booked 2 interconnecting rooms with sea view expecting it not to happen given some of the other reviews and to our surprise that is precisely what we got. The pools were fantastic, location great for families wanting some peace but within easy reach of bars shops etc. Ok hotel food expensive but you expect that anyway & easy enough to walk down road to restaurants. Breakfast great. Only downside that perennial problem of not enough sun beds at peak times but this happens in every hotel we have ever stayed in! The decor maybe a bit tired in rooms but perfectly clean, we have stayed in much shabbier big chain hotels. We had a fantastic time and would love to go back.
Traveller's tip on dining
If you come out of hotel facing the beach and turn either left or right and walk approx 5-10 mins there are lots of restaurants bars and markets to explore.

Fantastic holiday hotel
We stayed at the Thavorn for a 2 week family holiday in March. After a long flight we were overjoyed to have had a free room upgrade to a suite. It was spacious, clean and better than expected. The bed was huge and was very comfortable, not as hard as expected. Karon beach is one of the cleanest and the best I have ever visited. There are many bars, shops, a daily and weekly market, which had an excellent carnival atmosphere. After making friends with the locals we realised there is more to do in Karon than meets the eye. The staff in the hotel were always willing to help, but we did have trouble getting fresh towels at times. The bar was open each night with entertainment and stayed open until the last guest left. Overall we all had a fantastic stay at the Thavorn Beach hotel and highly recommend it for cheap, quality accommodation.
Traveller's tip on dining
I would recommend eating outside the hotel in the evening as it is much cheaper and within a short walking distance. Shop around for tours, we saved over 100 pounds for five on the James Bond Island trip! The trip included elephant ride, cave canoe ride, speed boat trip, monkey show, rubber plant demo and ox cart ride. Brilliant!
