Best Value in Garmisch...Guaranteed
My family and I stayed at this hotel on two occasions in September 2009. During both, the service was exemplary. The breakfast buffet was terrific; a real gem. In exchange for a nominal city tax on the room (4 euro), guests receive a voucher for reduced fares on municipal buses and a one time discount on a gondola trip to the Alpspitz, a 2000m peak overlooking Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Grainau. A special thanks to Andreas, whos fine customer service and attention to detail will keep us coming back to Hotel Rheinischer Hof.
Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Jazz-Blues-inspired Irish Pub next door is a real treat. Graham, the owner, is Irish-born and has lived in the GAP area for 10 years. He serves great food and spirits everyday. Park the car and use the bus service. Trains from GAP to Munich are frequent, reliable and relatively inexpensive.

Wonderful!
We got a flat tire on the way to Garmisch (try changing a flat on the autobahn). The next morning (Sat), the front desk clerk called about 15 places trying to find one that was a) open and b) could work on my car (Volvo). Everyone there was so kind and helpful. Their English was far superior to my German, so there were no problems communicating. They gave us great info on the things we planned to do and made suggestions that turned out to be fantastic. The breakfast was delicious and had a great selection. Dh especially liked being able to cook his own eggs and bacon. Many European hotels dont have anything hot, so this was a big deal to him. We stayed in a suite in the Windrose bldg across the street from the main hotel. It was a lovely, spacious room, with beautiful views. Our only complaint was that the bed in the bedroom was terribly creaky. It was comfortable, but needed new slats. Thats the only complaint we had, and it was minor, since we were so tired at the end of the day we fell into a deep sleep. I would absolutely stay there again and recommend it to anyone taking a trip to Garmisch.
