Rooms with a view and a relaxing vibe
Though located about two miles from the main town and half a mile from the beach, this excellent hotel’s very advantage is that it is far from the madding crowd. Our room had a balcony with an ocean view, beckoning us to relax with glasses of chilled ouzo (the rooms have refrigerators). The staff is attentive; the breakfasts are bountiful; the overall hotel experience was the best we had on this trip -- and there was some stiff competition.
Traveller's tip on recreational activities
Bicycle rentals are available nearby in the village (5 euros a day). We rode into the main town, out into the countryside, and along the beach -- where we lunched on two of our days there at a couple of the many seaside restaurants. It works in the pleasant warmth of May, but perhaps not in the heat of July or August.

Not a typical European hotel
Had upgrades that travelers from the States are used to in hotels. Breakfast included and was outstanding very fresh and well appointed. Overall very pleased with the experience.

If coming back from the islands nice place to stay to get to the airport without fighting traffic.

Pleasant but not near the airport
THe Avra is a very pleasant hotel near the port in an interesting neighborhood. At night I did not think the bus would come and had to take a taxi for 30 Euros! But, in the morning, the bus was easy and pleasant and only 3 Euros. It is NOT near the airport but very convenient for ferries. If you go during the day and can get the bus from the airport it is very fine.
Traveller's tip on saving a few bucks
Get a good handle on the bus schedule from the airport to Rafina. I think it stops running late at night and is not so good with lots of luggage. Though it is cheaper than the two hotels close to the airport it is not if you have to take a cab both ways.
