A very basic Hotel = Star Rating from Expedia
The Hotel pool was still under renovation. The decor was poor/old and dingy. Room was slightly dusty - but put this down to the renovation works although maid service in the morning - opportunity to wipe round room but only made bed and replaced towels and soap. Comfortable bed and room warm, tea and coffee facility very limited with only a coffee machine to heat water - no kettle. Expedia rate the hotel as a 1.5 star and we feel this rating is accurate.

overall this hotel is completely horrible. do not waste your money here. Room was dirty, bed was dirty, hotel staff were not at all helpfull. when i requested change to a clean room the desk clerk told me she could not move us without a managers approval 1st. there was no manager on site, and manager was not reachable by phone, so we had no choice but to stay in the room or stay in the car. Car would have been a better choice. This hotel is not of the quality I expect from Howard Johnson. Either the chain has severely deteriourated or this property should not be a part of the chain. Hotel is the old Saxony Hotel and has not been updated or upgraded. I did not care about the pool, but it was under renovation and has been for quite a long time. Does not look like pool will reopen any time soon. Do not stay here - no one from the property seemed interested in providing any kind of service. This hotel is not even as good as a flop house, really dont stay here. There are many budget hotels within the city that are clean - pick one of them.

Not Impressed
I had stayed at the Howard Johnson before, but each time it seemed to get worse. This time, the room was not vacuumed nor dusted. During all hours of the night, people slamming doors, loud talking, we never had a good sleep at all. Never again.
