Fine if you set your expectations

This is the second time we’ve stayed at Hameau du Mottaret. The apartments are brilliantly located on the edge of the Furet piste, making them truly ski in/ ski out. The apartments, though adequately equipped, are fairly basic and they are now looking a little tired and in need of some refurbishment. But if you’re there to ski that’s less of an issue because you just want to get something to eat and get to sleep in the evenings. Would still go back next year.

Traveller's tip on saving a few bucks

Plan your itinerary so that you ski past the apartment around lunchtime. That will save you a fortune from having to eat in mountain restaurants, which have become prohibitively expensive with inflation and the weakness of the pound.

Excellent value for money

This is the second time we have visited Le Hameau. We had two appartments between 5 of us - 2 adults and 3 teenage children aged 18 and two at 15. It was very convenient for the ski shops, the supermarket and the 3 restaurants in Le Hameau. It was brilliantly located for the slopes meaning we could ski back every evening. Each appartment was small but as we had two it meant we had 2 bathrooms etc and suited our family really well. A free bus will take you down to Meribel centre and will return as late as 11 -12 ish if you are looking for nightlife.

We ate in all three restaurants but our favourite was the white whale - they will bring more salad, chips etc if you want and the hot stone, raclett and fondue are all excellent.

Basic but served its purpose

We (group of 4 adults) have just returned from a weeks stay at the Odalys. The aprtment was very small and basic and although we had requested a twin room we ended up with a bunk bed and single bed in one room and the sofa bed which myself and my husband turned into a bed on the floor. There was no kettle and the cups were not suitable for a cup of tea if you like an espresso coffee then great but if you like a nice cup of tea in the morning then i recommend you take your own cups. There wasn’t much nearby so if you don’t mind not going out then this is well suited to you. There is a cable car to Mottaret town but again not much there and a free bus which takes you to Meribel town where there are more bars/pubs/restaurants. However we were right next to the slope, 2 minutes away and the view from the window was lovely. If you hire a car then i recommend you pay and park it underground as we saw many people digging there cars out due to heavy snowfall. Overall the apartment served it’s purpose although it was a little cramped with 4 adults.

Traveller's tip on saving a few bucks

Great cheap place to stay to make the most of the 3 Three Valley Skiing area. Bring as much food and cups with you as possible as not very cheap in the actual resort.
