Great location. Good deal for the price.

Located in a very central and safe spot in Copacabana. Rooms and furniture were from another era but all in good condition and the bed was quite comfortable. Rooms are spacious and if you can manage an ocean-view, its beautiful! Oh and the breakfast is EXCELLENT! A buffet with all kinds of breads, pastries, cheeses, deli cuts, fresh tropical fruit and fruit juices as well as a few hot dishes. Honestly, it was why I went back for a second stay!

Good Hotel, better rate

This is very nice hotel with a beautiful view to Copacabana beach. The hotel needs improvement but the service is excellent and the breakfast buffet is even better. I highly recommend this hotel for a nice stay in Rio.

Breakfast buffet good

Breakfast buffet was good; otherwise, the hotel is pretty run-down--"Fawlty Towers Rio."

It’s a Place to Stay

The hotel was pretty good. It seemed more like a unique hotel with unique rooms. The bed I had was large but slightly firmer than I prefer. The climate control was either off or full blast so it was hard to maintain a nice temperature. I enjoyed the breakfast they had every morning. The beach is right across the street and the hotel is in a nice location.

Basic Room Great Location

The hotel lobby was nice and very inviting. The Staff was helpful, and most spoke some English. The free breakfast was nice with a good selection. The rooms are extremely basic, dingy, and pretty small. The only problem that we had with the hotel overall was the elevators. We were on the 12th floor and would sometimes wait up to 10 minutes for the lift. The Hotel is right on Copacabana so you can’t beat the location. I would definitely stay here again.

Not worth the money even if on Copacabana

The hotel is probably the worst building along Copacabana. The name says it all .. it is a "Classic" Hotel. The elevator feels like you might not make it up or down, the rooms are small and the bathrooms flaking. To top it all, the staff are not really into making your stay worthwhile at all. It is better to spend more money for another hotel on the beach or stay a block or so away and pay similar prices for much better accomodation.

Predators! rip-off! Waste of money

Predator. Predators! rip-off! Dirty cheap motel style. No value for your money. Expect half of what you purchase from this hotel. Do not expect management to assist, or respond quickly. I stayed at lower price better quality hotel at Copacabana. Molds & mildew on bathroom walls. Bathroom tub is stained and dirt. Towels have holes and stains. I eat only once of 10 nights at the Cheap hungry people breakfast buffet. I eat better in the favela. Copacabana, Rio is a beautiful place, but expect half of your expectation from this hotel. I stayed at clean & better serviced motel.

Traveller's tip

I find clean hotel excellent staff at hotels located in range of one to three blocks from the beach. A three minutes walk. I enjoyed the group tours. I will repeat my visit to Sugar loaf.

not bad, but not a 4 star hotel

Could very easily be so much better, just a few tacky annoying things that they need to change. Little rip-offs such paying a daily charge for your safty box, tourist tax despite expedia stating that all taxes and charges have been included in what was paid online. If you want you room made up, you often have to ask.

Great location, helpful staff, aging hotel

We had a bright, clean room overlooking Copacabana Beach, with a balcony. We left the door to the balcony open and never needed air conditioning. Anderson, at the desk, obtained tickets for us to go to a samba school and even to a sold-out Flamengo soccer game! On the other hand, the TV only showed local channels (the hotel blamed the cable company but did not offer any refund); one of the two elevators was frequently not working; for one day of our week-long stay we had no hot water; and one day there was a water leek in the last flight of stairs to the lobby that created a large puddle in the lobby.

Traveller's tip on local attractions

If you can, go to see a Flamengo (the local team) soccer game. It’s safe and fun. Just seeing 80,000 people dancing and singing at full voice is worth the price of admission.

Poor value, tired looking rooms

After thinking that i had paid a decent sum for a hotel for Rio - i do not think i got great value for money. The condition of the room was generally threadbare and tired looking. The furniture was old and the fabric of the beds well worn. Rooms were also pretty pokey and those rooms near the lift shaft were noisy. I state rooms as i asked to be moved twice in 3 days. On the plus side the staff were friendly, considerate and tried to accommodate as best as possible - although they are working with poor resources overall. Would not recommend to friends and will defintely never stay there again. My only regret in visiting Rio.

Good value, excellent location

Good value hotel in excellent location. The room was very large and although decor a little dated, the quality of the service & breakfast more than made up for it.
