Not a true 5 star hotel but not a bad place
Not sure who awards the stars in Cyprus but this is never a 5 star hotel - 4 star at the very most. Facilities are ok, its clean and practical. Hotel resturants are closed on a Monday - Three good resturants just across the road from the hotel though. Its quite far from the main town centre and the old town. Staff are very friendly.

Great hotel -- especially if you have kids!
I stayed at this hotel for a total of about two weeks during my stay on Cyprus. The hotel has been recently renovated and everything really looks great. The breakfast is varied, yogurts, lots of different fresh fruits, omelets, eggs, cheeses, meats, danishes, cereals, juices (fresh squeezed oj!), and much more. You will not leave hungry. I had a room with a sea view and it was very spacious. I saw a few weddings going on there, so it looks like it might be a great place to have a wedding and/or honeymoon, too. I have two small children (4 and 5) and they LOVED it. The kids camp is included and will keep them wonderfully occupied from 10:30-12:30 and 2:30-4:30. Then, they have kids disco in the evening which is also a bunch of kids under the age of 12 dancing to music with the counselors from the kids camp showing them the steps. Throughout the day and evening, be sure to participate in any of the games offered by the hotel. They give prizes for the winners (free meals, spa treatments, etc.) and cost you nothing. The spa is absolutely gorgeous. I think they recently renovated it and it is really top notch. Treatment packages are reasonably priced, too. The only drawback is that the food is pretty expensive in the hotel. There are about five different restaurants in the hotel -- some more expensive than others. Room service, in the evening, turns out to be the cheapest alternative because you can order from the lunchtime poolside menu...that is the only one that is relatively reasonably priced. There are several restaurants across the street, though. The sushi restaurant (Zen) across the street is really great. Chesters is also good...kind of like a Fridays. If you walk down the street to the right a little further, there is a cheap burger place. I would definitely recommend this place and would go back again!

Grand Resot stay May 2009
This Hotel is not really what I expected from a 5* resort. The reception area is lovely and check in was straight forward. However we couldnt help but feel a little disappointed as we entered our hotel room. There certainly wasnt a wow factor. As 2 friends travelling together we had asked for twin beds however it was set up as a large double, when quizzed they said it was two beds together... with that we didnt bother trying to get it changed and found that it was two beds together and we coped fine. The room was extremely clean and the maid was very friendly. The TV only had 2 English channels but with the weather being so lovely you are not in the room that much. The breakfast was lovely with a very wide variety of food and drinks. The pool area is also very clean and the sun beds are very comfortable and they provide towels for your use around the pool. Overall I enjoyed my stay but I wasnt left feeling that I had staying in a luxury 5* hotel but a nice 4*

Worst service ever...
I will write just for the service in the japanese restaurant. It was Saint Valentines day and when i went there they told me that all their restaurants were fully booked. When i went downstairs they found me a place in the japanese.I went there and was more than half empty.I went at 9 ordered their set menu course and i finished at 1!!!Four hours they made to finish a simple set menu. They made one hour to bring wine i ordered and although they put the bottle away they never refill our glasses!Ordering the second bottle was a nightmare...after another hour they brought the wrong wine and again we were waiting for a refill but again i was forced to go and take the bottle in the other side of restaurant and pour on my own.I lost the reservation i had in another place at 11 since we ended there at 1!As for the room,it was a simple three star hotel room. For breakfast,it was just one person and they never asked as if we wanted tea or coffee.

Nice hotel
The hotel is very clean and modern. Rooms are nice size. Stay on the sea side becasue the island side is noisy due to the motorway being close. Beds arent very comfortable. Outstanding breakfast buffet! Pool and beach area quite nice. Staff friendly. Nice quiet location but you need a car to really get around and see the country.

Basic comfortable hotel, more low 4 star
Had everything one might need, but not a luxury 5 star hotel. Beach is lovely with sea activities. Nice pool. Rooms are nice & clean. lovely restaurants in front of hotel... The best japanese food I have ever had. A nice italian is also a stroll away, slightly hidden behind loads of flowers. Would go back again.

Great time
Lovely hotel, very clean rooms and superb pool and beach area. Lots of different restaurants in the hotel and surrounding area. I would say this is an excellent 4 star hotel but not 5 star.

We paid extra to get a family room already prepaid!
We booked family room with sofa as shown on internet but upon arrival at 5. a.m. the standard room has been offered to us. We insisted to get large family room as per room shown on your site or similar because we made our decision just because we liked that type of room plus our daughter was planing to join us business plan permitted. Finally we paid extra for the room we already paid to you!
Itillo restaurant excellent food and sophisticated service nice, posh atmosphere... Old port fish tavern and small local respourant around Castle area Do not miss Diomidess on Makarios Ave. take a way real food tasty and fair priced

Perfect relaxing break
Our idea of a holiday is to stay in a good hotel, eat and drink well, see the sun and in general, totaly relax. This hotel was of a very high standard epecially the pool, gym and spa areas. We also noted that the whole hotel was exceptionally clean at all times...(WELL DONE!!!) We always stay in 5 star hotels and in most departments this met the high standards that we expect. It would have been nice for there to have been an ADULT ONLY pool or area of the pool as some of the children did make a lot of noise and it was difficult to relax near the pool. The only major disapointment was the distance it was from Limassol town, by the end of the week we had spent alot of money on taxis to the town for evening meals. Also the food and drink in the hotel is extremely expensive....£2.80 GBP for a can of Fanta!! If you dont want a big bar bill at the end of the week, go to a local supermarket to buy soft drinks. Although the general level service in the hotel and from the staff was good, there wernt enough staff and so service was slow at times. We would return to Limassol but probably try to get a hotel closer to town. If youre a couple and you want a relaxing break, i would try to go during term time so there arnt as many children, although having said that, most of the children were very well behaved & polite. We met some lovely people and have great memories from our 2008 holiday!
The best food in Limassol is definately around the Castle and Port areas. Eat where the Cypriots eat and you cant go far wrong. There are some great restaruants and bars around the Castle, its definatly worth the taxi ride out there. Try to avoid the tourist bars as the food is terrible and over priced.

GrandResort
The hotel ensured we had a very relaxing stay. The food was good & facilities excellent for the rating. Plenty of evening entertainment. Highly recommended!
Traveller's tip on saving a few bucks
All menus display prices in both Euros & Pounds. The pound prices are "Cyprus" pounds and not English Pounds which currently work out more expensive.

Grand resort?!?Not really
I was expecting a 5* hotel with adequate facilities. The hotel overlooks a two dual carriage way and you have locals racing down in the middle of the night. We were on bed and breakfast only but as there is limited amount of restaurants outside we had to eat in the main restaurant which is definetly not up to standard. The fact that you have to listen to live music with such classics as "Lady in red" on a nightly basis and the entertainment included a Bingo night really topped our experience.
If at all use half board as the food and drinks are expensive.

Pleasantly suprised
After reading many many reviews we picked the Grand Resort. Positives - Recently re-furbished. Nice lobby; friendly & helpful staff; good food; excellent variety of drinks; plush linens & room comforts; clean pool, deck, grass, and sand/beach areas, all with umbrellas. Excellent breakfast buffet. Lots of activities if you choose to partake in them. Negative - no ice available for rooms. Rated 5 star - more like a 4 star, but compared to local market is worth the price. Drinks expensive, but typical for this type of resort; just bill everything to your room and youll only be shocked once. Small grocery stores within 2 min walk where you can buy liquor/wine. A few rude eastern europeans staying at the resort, but no fault of the hotel.
Traveller's tip on dining
Good pub across the street.

Not worthy of a5 star status - should be 3.5 to 4
Needs improvement - room cleanliness was to be desired. cups not washed ,sink surround not cleaned for several days.Bathroom cleanliness not up to 4 star standard, let alone 5.

Great facilities, patchy service
We stayed here in late September. The weather was amazing and this hotel is extremely well placed if you like spending time in the sea because it has its own stretch of beach at the foot of some lovely shady gardens. There are plenty of good facilities including water sports and lots of good if somewhat expensive restaurants. The hotel is not at all central to Limassol however so if you want to go out on the town, youll need to get a taxi. There are some nice restaurants right opposite the hotel including a great Japanese. The hotel service we found patchy: sometimes, wed get great service from reception and then theyd do something like forget to book a taxi. The restaurant staff are also quite surly and forgetful. Our only major complaint was the quality of the mattresses in the rooms, which were very uncomfortable, even when we had them changed. All in all, however, a good place to stay and certainly value for money.

A really relaxing holiday
On arrival at the hotel after a long day the reception staff are friendly welcoming and very helpful. Arriving at night we opted for room service for our evening meal.I definately recommend it.It came quickly was well presented and very reasonably priced. We had a room with sea view which was worth the extra money. The front view from the hotel is the main road and shops.Breakfast was included and was first class. It kept us full until evening. The pool was always very clean and the tables etc around were spotless. There is a small beach area where you can go in the sea or just lounge which again was spotless and quiet.
Traveller's tip on saving a few bucks
We flew to Pathos and got a taxi to Limassol. The taxi said 50 Cyprus pounds. At the time I coughed due to a sweet getting stuck. As soon as I coughed he cut the price to 35 Cyprus pounds.Always worth questioning the cost!

only a 3 star
We were a little early getting there before check in time and we understood that we had to wait since the hotel was fully booked, but it ended up taking them more than an hour to finally free up a room for us as we sat around the lobby. Then they were not helpful about how to get on their internet service and when I did get access, it was too slow to be useful. Then the shower didnt work and the sink drain was stopped up. Plus the hotel is too far from the old town center, too long a taxi ride. Next time I will stay at a hotel on the beach closer to the "old town" and harbor of Limassol.
Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay
They have some good bike paths along the beach in Limassol, rent a bike early in the morning and take advantage of them. The restaurants at the old harbor are excellent and you can get in if you show up right when they open at 5-5:30pm. Dont miss Kolossi Castle, if you take a cab, ask the driver to wait while you go through otherwise it can be hard to get a cab back to Limassol.

worth a second visit
Overall liked the hotel. The evening themed buffet meals were excellent and the entertainment enjoyable. The breakfast buffet also offers an excellent selection. The hotel is a reasonable distance from the city centre. There are a few restaurants and car rental places in the vicinity of the hotel. The pool and beach areas are very good. Recommend exploring the city centre in the evenings. Felt very safe and friendly people. Reception staff a bit unhelpful at times. The cleaner often did not replace the bath/shower gel and we had to ring for these items. However, did enjoy the experience and would stay there again.
Traveller's tip on local attractions
Recommend drive to the Troodos mountain and the restaurants in the villages along the way.
