Good Value for Cheap Skiing

We stayed for a week at these apartments - 3 of us in a ’sleeps 5’ room. It was very comfortable and convenient for the slopes. The resort is only small, not a lot of apres-ski activities, but is linked to Plagne Centre - a much larger resort - by a free bus every 1/2 hour until early morning. At the price you wouldn’t get a much better option if you want an economical skiing holiday.

Traveller's tip on saving a few bucks

Lift passes are cheaper if you buy one for 4 hours, or afternoon only. you can also buy a limited access pass (petite reseau) if you don’t want to roam the entire mountain range.

Maeva Plagne Lauze 1800

The self-catering apartments ran by the agency are extremely good value. I booked a one bedroom apartment (could sleep up to 5 people); it was very comfortable, well positioned and definetly a good deal. The apartments are not luxurious but you have all you need for a comfortable stay. The people are very helpful, you can hire games from the reception and use the free sauna provided on the complex. Plagne 1800 is ideal for a family with young children or those on a budget who would like to stay in a more traditional ski-resort (many of the other La Plagne resorst are made up of high-rise 1970’s buildings). There are few shops but those that exists provide all the things one might need and the small number of bars and restaurants are extremely friendly and good value. I would however have a car on site as the navette systems between the other resorts which make up La Plagne are not very frequent, and not well coordinated.

GREAT VALUE FOR MONEY APARTMENT CLOSE TO SKI HIRE, LIFT PASSES - Apartment warm, cosy and clean

Apartment clean, spacious and well equipped. Five minute walk from nursery slopes (longer with ski boots on)!! La Plagne 1800 has a free small drag lift for beginners and seems to be much quieter than other villages in La Plagne, which is great if you are a complete beginner. However, once you have progressed then the main green runs are in La Plagne Centre which involves using chairlifts(liftpass), a blue run before you get to it from La Plagne 1800. There are just four restaurants in 1800 including the one in the hotel. The Italian and La Loup Blanc were great and had a fabulous atmosphere. We drove down and the roads were great even up through the mountains. Most important there was lots and lots of snow!!!

Personally, La Plagne 1800 was a little too quiet for me and my family (2 kids 8 & 10). Next time I will go to La Plagne Centre to be closer to more choice of restaurants and green runs! However, I would still recommend this hotel as it really was great value for money compared to most accommodation that I looked at.
